Preds, Blues, Isles, Canadiens, BlueJackets, Senators are all teams that need Duchene more than us. The only team we could outbid might be the Canadiens. Dont think we have a chance at all. Unless they really love Mattaa..

Are you seeing tweets/news reports that I'm missing? Because today's been way less busy than I thought it would be. Three deals (Eberle, Schlemko, TVR) have gone down, well below what I expected.

The more I think about it, the more I think Hanzal on a reasonable short-term deal would make us a better team than Duchene would.

I can never comment on a player's skating ability. I have virtually no idea what to look for or how to spot good/bad points
Yeah, I'm no expert there either. I can however, tell the difference between the skating ability of Hagelin vs Maatta so I'm not completely blind.

If a player ever makes you feel like getting up off the couch and pushing him, then he's a bad skater. If a skater looks like he's on fast forward while everyone else is at normal speed, he's a good skater.
Anything in between there and I'm not very good at picking up the nuances.

No way the Isles would send a guy like Hamonic to the Pens anyway. It would have to be as part of some complicated 3-team deal in order for that to happen.

Hamonic would be a dream IMO. Shame he's already in our division much less our conference. Maybe we can work out a Martin Jones alley oop with someone out west 
Not really interested in bringing back any of our UFA's considering what they probably will bring on the open market. Maybe Cullen
Bones will get 4.5-5 million/4-5 years, think we should max go to 3.5/4 y
Daley will get around 4million/3 year, think we should max go 2.5/2 y
Hainsey will get 1million+, think he's only be ok as a cheap 6th d
Kunitz will get 2.5-3 million, think we should only take him back if he wants to do a "Cullen deal"
Also don't think it is necessary to make a big splash for a big name signing considering cap space, chemistry etc.

You're high in more ways than one here.

Mcphee wants to keep Schmidt. Hamonic wont be traded to us and Methot is likely going to Dallas.
Scandella is a posibility, but I think hes likely going to MTL.

I like how he lists "PIT, NYR, etc" as examples of what he means by "teams", like there was any confusion on exactly what that means.
We just can't trade Matta this window. His stock is at an all time low as his had an abysmal season. Add a bad contract to that and we are stuck with him hoping he improves.
If anyone offers a 2nd pick for Pouliot right now, I'd bite their hand off.

He's better suited for a 3C role. Better possession player. Duchene's more of an assertive capable center version of Kessel.
Hanzal's ES offense has been trending down though. It'd need to be a very short term deal with his injury history.
