Yeah, AA would be a sweet get, but he's not going to net Detroit a stud D, IMO.

He's better suited for a 3C role. Better possession player. Duchene's more of an assertive capable center version of Kessel.

Hanzal's ES offense has been trending down though. It'd need to be a very short term deal with his injury history.

For sure...2 years tops.

Hanzal also brings size, physical play, better defense, zero asset cost, and likely a lower cap hit than Duchene. I'd love to see that behemoth line up behind Sid and Geno and see what he could do.

Not sure he's faster than Hagelin, but he's definitely not any slower and has some serious finishing ability.

Gives us another net presence for the PP. Rest PH up during the regular season.

Good enough to trade for a first pairing defenseman? Not a chance in hell.

Good enough to trade Maatta for? If we can line up a replacement, sure. I'd love to have Athanasiou.

The bolded is more what I was curious about. I didn't think he had that kind of value.

Just out of interest, the face off % for some of the guys that have been mentioned as C options

Matt Duchene 62.6
Martin Hanzal 56.4
Dominic Moore 54.6
Brian Boyle 52.2
Joe Thornton 50.9

I would take either Duchene and/or Hanzal; say thank you very much and sprint away, not walk, sprint! Of course there is that pesky thing called a Salary Cap.

Imagine a faster skater and better shooter than Hags. So yes

I was actually gonna say "Think younger Hagelin".

Given how starved Detroit it for any talent, I don't see them moving him.

I would be interested in a Maatta based swap though assuming we have back up plans or have already made plans.

Say we sign MDZ and trade for Schmidt...I'd do it.

I did not know Moore was still in the league. I am assuming he's no good? Cullen replacement?

Just looked him up... he's only 36!? I thought he was 40 years old 5 years ago.

I do not want Hanzal on this team. He wants too much money and can't stay healthy. Last thing we need is another guy who misses 10-15 games a year.

Haha wow I really thought he'd take a little more than that. I don't see why he couldn't have gotten $800-900K.
