Yeah when/if he's on line 4, he'll get less heat I'm sure. A little bit of Derek Armstrong syndrome. Miscast.

But it's still wild to me because he's produced at every level and we see the flashes--OT goal vs. the Ducks, some marvelous passing/vision--but the offensive side hasn't really come together. I don't think anyone will really be upset if he settles in as a Dominick Moore, that's a good value pick.

That's exactly right. On the 4th line I'd literally have no opinion of his play. The issue is he playing 2nd line C minutes which should be going to Kempe. Kempe reminds me of a young Robert Lang, hopefully this regime handles Kempe better.

It was an idea. I didn't say it was a good idea.

Good post, but I don't think there is any way the Kings could land Hjalmarsson for just LaDue and a pick. Blake should definitely give Amadio another look before addressing the team's needs at the deadline.
I don't see why not. Hjalmarsson has been injured off and on this season and is 30. It's not like he's setting the ice on fire as a Coyote. I don't see how his value is sky high right now. I poked around the Coyotes board, and it seems like their fans don't even think he's worth a 1st round pick alone right now.

How much do you think it would take?

I don’t know, I know they needed a little shakeup on the pp, but Lewis is not someone that should get pp time if you ask me. I’m sure Kempe will find his way back there soon.

Steven: " He digs pucks out" . If that's the reason he's out there then our pp is really a mess. Any of the guys are more than capable of digging pucks out, Lewis does that well, but he's not going to score from the corner.

Puck retrieval is a big chunk of the power play and it wasn't happening with both Gabby AND Kempe out there. Lewis jumps on, one shift later, centering pass off gaborik and in.

Lewis has 2 points in less than 15 power play minutes. That's the same as Pearson, who has played 80+ minutes. I think Gaborik has 3 points in 45 minutes or so.

Ottawa looking to trade Phaneuf. Obviously at 7 mil per year for 3 more seasons, that’s not something we look at. But say Ottawa were to take half the cap hit, and we could get him without giving up anything too crazy, would you do it?

I would be ok with Dion if we can get him for $5 million hit or less He is still a 20 mins defense man who would help our pp a fair amount. Martinez is strong enough to make up for some of his defensive lapses imo. I doubt however that the sens would retain $2 million however.

50 % does seem unlikely but I wouldn’t say retaining 2 mil would be too far fetched. They know it’s going to be a few years before they’re a playoff team again so being stuck with the 2 mil wouldn’t be a big burden.

Trevor Lewis has 10 goals this year and some of the prettiest ones as well.

Been unfairly bashed on this board, to a degree. We've all been frustrated at his missed opportunities, but I think we'd all be happy if we were told Lewis would score 10 goals the entire season. He's got 40 more games to score three goals and surpass his career high of 12 that he set last season haha.

Now, does that mean I want him on my power play full-time? No, but I don't mind it if it allows a more skilled player that isn't doing well on the PP to watch and realize they need to be better: especially if the move has resulted in goals.

Especially because the model for his production isn't "skill harder," it's "work for that loose puck." so you can make a skill play.

No thanks. I don't care if Ottawa and their penny pinching owner offered to retain 50%. Old and lacking in foot speed. I'd rather look elsewhere.

Call the Panthers up if they're deciding to sell and see what the price on a guy like Pysyk would be.

Scott Mayfield would be intriguing but he just re-upped on the Island.

I also just heard the cap might go up as much as 7 million so i think its doable myself I offered Folin LaDue and a 2nd in 19 for dion at 5 million and both fans that commented said sold so there fans like it

You guys realize that Phaneuf is signed through 2021 right? It’s not just one or two years.
