Nothing, Frolov was never traded.

They just let him go.
Why did they let him go? Sorry I don't remember too much of the intricate details.

What is the point of a Pavol Demitra on a rebuilding team, eapecially right before the draft?

And Frolov walked as a UFA from us after the first playoff series failure against Vancouver.

Didn't we get Parrish from Minnesota for our top scorer?

Why did the Kings trade Demitra again? What was the purpose of that trade? Wasn't he like our leading scorer at the time ? Parrish and Osullivan ?

And i don't remember why we traded Frolov., what did we get from the rangers?

For O'Sullivan and the pick that ended up being Lewis. And because Lombardi was cleaning house. By the end of his first year, there was nearly nobody left from the roster that he took over.

No we got OSullivan and a draft pick. I believe we used it on Lewis, though it could have been Bernier.

Parrish and Sopel were traded for by Taylor. We gave up the mighty haul of Grebeshkov and Tambellini for those two.

I think Lombardi was tired of Frolov the enigma, and wanted to push the team in a different direction as they continued to build towards success. Which is too bad, I loved Frolov. But it worked out in the end.

Nate Thompson changed his Twitter wall. Lol.

Jason Allison gave this team the true #1 center they coveted for a very long time, but the team had such little depth, replacing Luc's scoring and offense with Steve Heinze, which was a huge downgrade, and you can even argue that the scoring depth was impacted by the Allison trade, having lost two top six forwards in Stumpel and Murray in exchange for one in Allison (and a depth guy in Eloranta).

I like to think that there was a personnel meeting that went like this:

"The fans are going to be pissed we let Luc go to Detroit. We should probably sign Randy Robitaille and hope no one notices."

Grebeshkov...what could have been lol.

Pushkarev showed potential

Yes but until the work visa is fully worked out he might not be able to travel at all.

Blake said if visa isn't worked out between now and Tuesday, he'll be able to play on Tuesday cause it's a game in Canada.

Blake said:

"Added Blake, “He’ll be able to play in Winnipeg (next Tuesday) right, no matter what. Like even if he doesn’t get the visa, because we’re in Canada he can play that game.”

They got sick of his wrap arounds and he missed 76 break aways in his final 3 seasons.

He did choke during the Vancouver series. But he was neck and neck with Kopitar for goal scoring iirc..and he had a great shot from the left circle.

If that was the trade, we got robbed.

He was an injury prone winger in his early 30's, that was brought in by the previous GM that was trying to win, and didn't help the team win. He was traded for a 1st and what was a top prospect at the time. Demitra was never traded for more than that in his career.

Frolov played in 43 games for the Rangers, had 7G and 16pts, and never played in the NHL after that. Which is crazy, because he's only 35 now, and went back to Russia in 2011. Gaborik just turned 36. Seems like Frolov should be 50, and 2011 was a thousand years ago.

Lombardi did what many are saying regarding Carter: traded a guy before he declined since the team needed to do a rebuild.

That 1st rounder could have been Giroux but turned into Lewis. O'Sullivan was one of the highest rated prospects in hockey at the time.

Lewis is voted Unsung Hero by his teammates every year and is a key member of two Cup teams (GWA Game 5 VAN 2012/GWG Game 6 ANA 2014). O'Sullivan was eventually flipped for Williams who did some okay stuff for LA while he was here.

The Wild went on to win zero with Demitra. The teams involved in the O'Sullivan deal went on to win nothing.

Great trade even if they could have taken a better player than Lewis. Lombardi then went on to trade for Johnson before the start of the season and then made the Stoll/Greene trade after that season. Set the team up for future success while helping the tank job that got Doughty.

It's almost like he added that as a question and hope. He did say it was Solomons job. Because i remember Mitchell being held up in a hotel room waiting on paperwork and someone from the kings having to stay with him.

I believe the O'Sullvian trade in the end gave us Justin Williams.

On March 4th, 2009, Williams was dealt in a complicated, three-way deal which in essence sent him to the Kings, Patrick O'Sullivan to Edmonton, and Erik Cole to Carolina.

Brian Willsie won the Kings 2 Cups.

Patrick was a good player for the Kings and I admit I was pissed at first when Kings traded O Sullivian lol

Then later Williams turned out to be pretty good and I was stoked.O Sullivan fell apart in Edmonton.

Had a great shot and great hands. Scored 93 points in 78 games during his rookie AHL year, including 47 goals. Looked like a keeper for the Kings as well. Trading for the oft-injured Williams while moving a young guy that scored 20+goals and 50+ points the year prior wasn't met with a ton of excitement on these boards.

Never really looked as good at the NHL level again as he did with LA. I think it has mostly been blamed on his mindset due to his abusive childhood.

I was a big fan. Was the most purely skilled winger on the team and was a fit age-wise with the young core at the time (Brown/Kopitar/Johnson/Doughty/Quick)

By draft time, NHL clubs were well aware of O'Sullivan's problems with his dad and otherwise there were some character concerns. Most rankings had him in the 20s in the stacked '03 class, but I think a lot of teams simply had him as a 'do not draft'. As others have mentioned, he was productive in those years immediately following the draft. Maybe he wasn't a "top prospect" in the "he's a surefire 1st liner" sense, but he certainly looked like he had top 6 potential.

If I'm being honest with myself, I didn't like the trade at the time either. O'Sullivan had two seasons left and would be RFA, whereas Williams had a year before going to UFA. But I suppose the lesson learned here was to not undervalue getting the better player and/or the Kings staff had an idea that O'Sullivan's effort level was waning and it was a good time to sell.

It's funny how that deal went down. The Kings agreed to do Williams for O'Sullivan, then Carolina agreed to do O'Sullivan to reacquire Erik Cole. Edmonton then found out that LA was getting Williams and were like "Hey, no, we'd rather have Williams." Carolina didn't want to renege on the deal with LA, so Edmonton demanded an extra 2nd rounder. Carolina sent Edmonton a 2nd rounder, and LA sent Carolina a 2nd rounder to replace theirs.
