I know I'm and Oilers fan, but how the hell does Nuge not get on the first 16 player roster?

The coach and GM are from the Oilers??

:help::help:

You know when you grew up playing hockey and your dad or uncle or a family friend was extra tough on you because he knew you and didn't want to make it seem like you were being handed anything?

Yep. That's what's happening. RNH went through a month stretch where he was sick as hell, then as he was coming out of it, he broke his hand. He'll get named later on.

Just awful decisions!

This is the WC and the top comp players from NHL will fill the roster.

Gaudreau Vs 1st comp
.258 EVPPG
Couturier vs 1st comp
.428 EVPPG
Eichel vs 1st comp
.375 EVPPG
Larkin 2nd comp
.586 EVPPG
Mackinnon vs 1st comp
.485 EVPPG
Mcdavid vs 1st comp
.692 EVPPG
Monahanvs 2nd comp
.322 EVPPG
Saad
.343 EVPPG

Last year RNH and Toews were the only 2 tough comp Cneters top 3 in groups EVG and EVP.

PC says he played hurt for 4 weeks the period of time were all his -ve goal dif numbers come from.

How does PC reward him.
By selecting a whole collection of young forwards who rack there points against soft opposition but need a large jar of prison lube when they face first comp.

Rnh needs to tell Tmac and PC his Agent will provide a list of the 3rd and 4th comp players he will play against the rest of the year.

Cause being a heart and charater willing to face the best does not matter to PC.

RNH tell PC and Tmac to go ...........

It isn't just about tough competition though.

Every forward but Larkin, McDavid, and Eichel have seen the playoffs. As much as it sucks, they take that into consideration when building a team.

RNH hasn't played meaningful games in years. He hasn't faced that kind of pressure since the WJCs.

I still think he could make the team but I get their decision.

Monahan- Goes to the net, better goal scorer than RNH.
MacKinnon- Faster, better suited to the wing.
Couturier- Shutdown C, playoff experience.
Miller- Odd choice, but versatile and has playoff experience.
Larkin- Faster, better suited to the wing.

Imo the roster will look like this..

MacKinnon-McDavid-Larkin
Gaudreau-Monahan-?
Saad-Eichel-?
Miller-Couturier-?

I know it's a small sample size, but Ghost has already outperformed the career highs, offensively, of any of those guys named. It's not like those guys are studs on the defensive side, either. IMO Jones and Murray, particularly, went ahead of him based on name and prestige.

Jones and Murray went ahead of him because they're better at this meaningless for you thing like defense.

Jenner with his 22 goals this season obviously should have been selected ahead of JT Miller, but the Jackets already have 3 representatives and the Rangers have none.

Is anyone else considering how sick of a top 6 this could be?

Gaudreau - McDavid - Matthews
Larkin - Eichel - Mackinnon

Matthews needs to make this team. He is probably the best sniper available with ridiculous hands in tight. Could you imagine how many goals he'd score off of Gaudreau and McDavid passes?

That 2nd line would be pretty fast . . .

I am amazed by your continued insistence on missing the point. Whether the gimmick teams are competitive or not doesn't matter. Many think they will be, many think they won't be. The point is that international tournament, which this is presented as, are supposed to feature national teams.

Everything you said applies to the NHL replacing eighth seeds in the playoffs with frankenstein teams made up from the best players from non playoff teams, and yet you can see how idiotic that is. It's the exact same thing. An arbitrary claim is made that two teams cannot compete, so a franksenstein team that represents nothing (in this case a country, the other a city) is created to "increase competition".

The thing is that it's an NHL tournament first and foremost and they can do what they want.

The NHL obviously believes that it is in their interest in promoting their own product to have the 2 non national teams instead of the 7th and 8th best nations in the world.

If you think that your suggestion has merit please forward it to the NHL.

And what makes the NHL's interests your interests?

The suits' motivations are pretty clear, they don't really need to be explained. And you're right in that too that they have every right to pursue them just like we dissenters have the right to call 'em out on it. What's truly mind-boggling however is the people who bother to defend them - save for those who are on the take.

Why do you defend them? Please do tell.

Who are we looking at as later adds? I'd say ghost is a lock. Matthews too, and I'd add RNH. Domi and Duclair should probably be on this team

I'd much rather watch an all-star team from 2nd-tier hockey nations than a team from a single one of those nations. The U-23 team is a pure gimmick, but I'm looking forward to watching them more than any other team.

If the financial interests of "the suits" and my interest as a hockey fan are both satisfied, what's wrong with that?

I wonder who the starter will be for this team. Gibson has the most experience at the NHL level, but he also has the worst stats of the 3 goalies. I think Hellebuyck should be the starter (mainly due to his incredible WC last year) with Murray as the backup, I don't think Gibson is as good as people say he is.

I guess that's one way to look at it... :help:

Worked out well in Tampa with MSL...

I had him on the team too but I think this speaks volumes on managements opinion on RNH.

You think they are picking players based on how many representatives they have...

I think Jenner will be there and I DO not understand why Miller was there but this logic is backwards.

Miller adds some physicality, has good hands, and can play anywhere in the lineup. Can also play any wing, so gives the roster some versatility.
