World Cup: 2016 World Cup — Team USA

I think if any team were to do that it would be Team Europe or NA 23 and under teams. Wouldn't expect that from guys for Team USA. If they did do that, it would be because they don't want to play for Torts. Even then, I have a hard time seeing it. Seems more like USA Hockey incompetence than anything. I had a feeling the last few days they'd find a way to leave Kessel off but this is insanity
 
Now I hope Kessel wins the Conn Smythe just to make Team USA look like even bigger idiots

I think the reality is a player like Kessel is just not Torts material. Period.

Having a couple Abbys isn't a terrible thing (especially knowing Torts was coach and seeing him on the preliminary roster), but to do what they did with the rest of the roster and the skill players they left off is just baffling. Don't even get me started on the D too.

Yup and that shows why Torts should never have been selected as the head coach. A) He sucks B) He's extremely difficult to play for and chooses his "grit" guys instead of players who are, ya know, good at hockey. Phil gets punished cause he isn't "gritty' enough and doesn't block shots. Hard to block shots when you always have the puck but USA Hockey has such an outdated approach to hockey in these tournaments
 
This roster is great news for Rival Countries.

One of the weaker US lineups I've seen in some time.
 
Luckily this tournament means nothing to me.

I think one of Dubi or Cally is fine. Both is an atrocity. On top of the fact that Abelkader is already on the team.

And I just can't wrap my head around Jack Johnson making the team over Fowler, Shattenkirk and Justin Faulk.
 
One thing i allways wondered with USA hockey how come Goligoski never represented team USA ? He has his problems sure but he's definitly been good enough for most of his career. Is beeing big and physical really that important for team USA ? I mean looking at this wierd roster it sure seems like it but still...

Not saying he needed to make the World Cup Roster just wondered and he's defenitly a better player than Jack Johnson.
 
Most hilarious part is how Torts will sell everyone on how "defensively responsible" this team is and how gritty and tough they are. Best way to be good defensively is to have the puck and not be stuck in your own zone all game. He loves his shot blocks though. Anytime you can take inferior players and leave some of your best talent at home, you got to do it
 
Such a joke that Kessel isn't on the team, especially over players like Callahan, Dubinsky and Abdelkader.

JVR - Pavelski - Kessel would've been an awesome line again like it was in the Olympics.

Tyler Johnson is another notable omission.

Also, LOL at Jack Johnson being on the team. I guess having a number 1 d-man like Faulk would've been too much for Torts.
 
I don't have much more to say other than I believe they (USA Hockey) are guilty of over-thinking the process. It's obvious they think that because of the tournament being held in NA on NHL size ice they needed a hard-nosed NHL style team. It's a big team and will be tough to play against, but scoring may be a problem. Hard to say. I also wonder about the defense. Jack Johnson is a liability in anything more than a 7th d-man role. If that's true, why not take a true #1 like Faulk?

There is at least 5 or 6 other guys who a better than Goligoski, JJ and Niskanen who aren't there so I wouldn't worry about it
 
I think I might be cheering for the Young Gunz as well. I think they could beat this team (and get beat up in the process).
