The coming season will be important come the ranking for the Swedish D-men. More importance than in other cases as there are so much top skill and parity. But again injuries and "injuries" will take its toll. There will be no problem with the selection.

Eriksson - Bäckström - Forsberg
Landeskog - Zetterberg - Nyquist
Sedin - Sedin - Söderberg/Hörnqvist
Steen - Backlund/Kruger - Silfverberg

Karlsson - OEL
Hedman - Strålman
Kronwall - Hjalmarsson

Here's a mix of what I want and what seems likely - anything with the Sedins seems kinda funky. But what are the chances both of them are healthy enough to participate, granted that they are invited? I can live without the Sedins completely.

Agreed. Injuries will single out at least 1 or 2 out of our top 10 dmen. I just hope our top 3 stays healthy. ;-)

Top 10 in NHL scoring, dominant possession players and you can live with them off your roster? This is why I feel that these guys are just disgustingly underrated. The zinger is suggesting they won't be healthy, Henrik Sedin is the most durable player of this generation ffs.

Which Sedin ideas are the most interresting for the team as a whole?

Sedin - Sedin - Eriksson
Sedin - Sedin - Hörnqvist

It's either Eriksson or a right-handed shooter imo, i.e. Hörnqvist, Silfverberg or Lindholm. Forsberg is a bit too similar, I think.

You're probably right. Silfverberg and Lindholm have some potential while Loui probably keep his level right now, which all bodes well for the next year or two.

Point is we must have a handful of players who raise their level in this tournament, to become successful. Too many Eriksson, Hörnqvist, Berglund, Franzén and the energy level risk to be low.

Our future rest to some degree on a few younger players to take the next step.

Who will be the player on the team in a year that few imagined today?

1. Lindholm?
2. Zibanejad?
3. Wennberg?
4. Nylander?
5. Fast?
6. Nemeth?
7. Forsberg (goalie) ?

Coaching staff is announced on tuesday.

(in different roles):

Daniel Alfredsson (GM, player selections)
Peter Forsberg (opposing teams scout, influencing the referee)
Mats Sundin (media when losing, dancing, mad looks in the finals)
Niklas Lidström (defense consultant, player kids games coach)
Rickard Grönborg (tactics, game coach)
Per MÃ¥rts (technical consultant)
Ulf Samuelsson (peacemaker, squabbling with Znaroks)
Daniela Rundqvist (summer training coach, Mästarnas Mästare-konsult)

A hothead-junior coach that has never even coached seniors, a media-horny Garpenlöv who hasn't coached since 04-05, and Popovic (who is okey).

Bring on the victories?

Hockeysverige asked a number of "experts" about the coaching change, how they felt about it and how they would want their first line to look two of them had Carl Hagelin one even had Marcus Krüger. EXCLUSIVELY DEFENSIVE FORWARDS DOES NOT LOG TOP MINUTES EVER! They play the ****ing penalty kill they get the occasional shift that's ****ing it if you're a first line forward you're ALWAYS expected to ****ing score. I mean even if you have Karlsson and Hedman as the first pairing they can't be expected to score with offensive blackholes against the likes of Canada and the USA.

Relax, she's a Stockholm teams journalist and obviously picked an all Stockholm line.

At least Nyström is seeing what we're all seeing re: Grönborg, his inability to make changes during a game.

You missed Zibanejad, with Alfredsson helping select the team I cant see them picking Kruger or Berglund over him he is going to have a good season in a big role on a scoring line in Ottawa.

I believe that Zibanejad would be happy in a more defensive role should we decide to have a "fourth" line.

Zibanejad - Krüger - Hörnqvist ?

I see Hjalmarsson on most lists and Kruger on quite a few, so with the WC played in May, won't it be a problem for Hjalmarsson and Kruger to make the games since they will have prior engagements till mid-June :sarcasm:

Quite deep (and heavy) national at the moment, even without older stars:

Forsberg - Bäckström - Hörnqvist (84 94 86) (kg)
Landeskog - Söderberg - Eriksson (93 98 89)
Steen - Backlund - Silfverberg (96 90 91)
Johansson - Berglund - Zibanejad (93 98 91)

Hagelin - Krüger - Nyquist / Lindholm 84 - 84 - 83 / 87

Ekman-Larsson - Hjalmarsson (88 - 94)
Hedman - Strålman (105 - 88)
Edler - Karlsson (100 - 82)
Lindholm - Brodin (88 - 88)

Enström - Grossmann (82 - 105)
Klefbom - Ericsson (96 - 102)

Lundqvist (dad)
Lehner
Enroth

Oduya is so out. Apart from this you listed I would put these well above him: Ekholm, Strålman, Klefbom, Brodin (glaring omission there). I probably would rank some other D-men above him or in parity too, players who I do not think much of. But this list makes him #12.
