Like go to any Toronto away game in the nhl except for maybe montreal and the stadium will be mostly blue and white.

Matthews got on this team at the end due to his strong performance at the World Championships this spring, that being said he deserved to be after that.

Why didnt Galchenyuk play this spring in the Worlds?

I'm sure Gally could of went if he wanted to, look at the team usa sent

Not even close. If you made a poll based on who has more hockey talent it would be an absolute massacre in favour of Matthews. Arguing over who is better today is possible, but not who has more talent. If expect Matthews in his Draft +1 to put up similar, if not more points than Galchenyuk ever puts up in a single year.

McLellan and Matthews fellow Team NA teammates seem to think very highly of him.

Hopefully if Team NA gets into a tight game we see Eichel-McDavid-Matthews on a line.

Obviously you care about HF's opinion on whether Matthews deserves to be there over Galchenyuk or Jenner or you wouldn't have made the poll in the first place. Sure Team NA has great talent and speed...Fastest team in the tourney, and as talented as any team not named Canada

BUT those kids may get pushed around a bit...Many are not nearly as strong on the puck as they will be in a few years

This tournament is becoming such a joke. Galchenyuk played on the world championship roster for team usa and single handedly stole the silver medal in the shootout, had a 30 goal breakout season, scored more goals than any player in the nhl after the all star game whos name is not ovechkin, yet he cant crack this roster? Not saying that trocheck isnt good but cmon. I wouldve taken even jenner or huberdeau. Galchenyuk should have been on the roster to begin with

I recall Canada winning the past 2 WC gold's...and USA getting bronze in 2015...and finishing 4th in 2016...

take drouin off that line instead of scheifele what did drouin score in league last year 10 points.

Drouin's a great skater, slick puck handler/playmaker + he was lights out in the play-offs

He's gonna play a top six role on this team...setting up goals + sniping too...

Some guys take longer to mature than others...still Drouin's days as a fringe NHLer...short though they were...are OVER!

His early struggles and ( me first ) tantrums will be only a footnote in what, barring injury, should be a stellar career

Alex Galchenyuk is by no means equally talented at playing hockey as Auston Matthews.

Matthews is compared to the likes of Eichel, Tavares, Kopitar, Sakic in terms of his impact in the NHL. Galchenyuk is nowhere close and is a defensive liability, which is why is not on the team.

So the coaching staff cares about ticket sales in Toronto? You really think team NA with McDavid, Eichel, Ekblad the Leafs own Rielly and all the other talent they have would not sell out games in Toronto? Really?
