Other than Laine every forward can play PK. Don't really need Korpikoski because of that.

I would have taken Rantanen instead of Korpedo, or to be honest, even Rantanen over Aho.
No knock on Aho, but Rantanen is bigger, physical, and has proven he can make it happen on the small ice.

Aho is a beauty and I hope he won't have problems with transitioning his game to NHL ice.

But like said before me looks like Aho is the extra forward, and I hate it.
1)Korpi should not be playing
2)Aho could use his time better, like going to Carolinas camp if this is the plan.

The kid is a stud. Very high hockey IQ, I'm a fan.

Yes, Korpikoski sucks. Watched him all year in Edmonton and he was terrible.

Everyone becomes a better player when they wear the blue and white jersey. I was surprised how good Laine looked in the Finnish jersey despite playing on the right wing.

Doesn't take long when Aho replaces Korpedo. Guys is uselees. I want 4 lines able to score.

Granlund - Koivu - Komarov
Jokinen - Barkov - Lehterä
Teuvo - Filppula - Donskoi
Laine - Haula - Aho

PK pairings:

Koivu - Komarov
Barkov - Jokinen
Haula - Filppula

Most likely wing :)

Long term, do you guys see Aho at centre? I think with his hockey IQ and playmaking ability he would be a better fit at centre.

Right now, I can see why you have him at wing, he's still really young. But going forward, having Barkov-Aho centre their own lines is a strong top 6.

I wouldn't put Laine and Aho in the same line. Too much of a liability in the own end. Aho might be more useful in top 9 as a winger than he would be on the 4th line.

Agreed. They are too young right now. It's a big step up in competition this event, it will benefit both of them going through this learning experience.

What has happened to Korpikoski in recent years? He used to be useful grinder/pk forward with 30-40 points couple years ago, and now he's being bashed everywhere. I guess that just happens to some players. Let's hope that he can elevate his game in national team, which has happened with several players in Finnish hockey history (Kurri in Nagano 1998, Ruutu in Vancouver 2010 etc.).

Sochi was way worse. Jarkko Immonen was Finland's #1 center in that tournament.

Yeah, but it is again two years later, no, two and half years. These koivus and jokinens should start to look for retirement and caring homes gradually... Bring the young guns in. Soon!

This looks like the thing. Just tell it to those ever conservative coaches and best buddies managing Team Finland. Though I don't know if "conservative" is the righ term in this context. But blindness might be.

I think Koivu and Jokinen likes will appear in 2018, but after that not anymore. Unless Finland lacks depth.

interesting how Salomaki almost made the team over Laine or Aho.

personally I would've had all three of them and left Korpikoski out.

I think the only reason Korpikoski is on the team is because he got to play on the first line with Selänne and Granlund in Sochi. He was passable there but it's just terrible he is on the team now, considering his recent performance and getting bought out.

Anyway, this is where I would start if I was Marjamäki:

Laine-Barkov-Jokinen
Granlund-Koivu-Donskoi
Haula-Lehterä-Teräväinen
Komarov-Filppula-Aho
Korpikoski

Määttä-Vatanen
Lepistö-Ristolainen
Jokipakka-Lindell
Pokka

Rask
Rinne
Koskinen

Power play lines:

Komarov-Barkov-Jokinen
Laine-Vatanen

Donskoi-Koivu-Granlund
Ristolainen-Määttä

Penalty kill lines:

Filppula-Komarov
Määttä-Ristolainen

Barkov/Koivu-Haula
Lepistö-Jokipakka

I honestly think you are going to see Laine play himself onto the PP units on this team.

Once he gets rid of any butterflies he will have playing at this level he will get going and push himself onto the PP.

He's big, has a good hockey I.Q and has a hellacious shot he knows how to get open for.

I'm fairly certain he will end up being a rather important part of your team.

Triggerman.

ah...........I just noticed you have Laine there on the defense pairing with vatanen. Seems you think he is already penciled in as a top pp option. You are probably right, there is no other player on Finland that gives you what Laine can give you.

I have nothing constructive to add except well wishes to the Finnsh team in WCOH, your team has always my 2nd favourite after Latvia.Good luck!

Yes, that's why he is the left point shot on the 1st PP.

Filppula shouldn't play.

His career is on free fall,13-14 season looked great
(his first as a Lightning) 25G+34A +5 in 75 games,but then...

201 games since then, have scored the same amount of goals (25)
tallied 98 points,with -26 in plus minus.

Sure he is still good at face-offs,been Tampa's best actually
in the past 2 seasons with 52.2% and i suppose is still
good PK player, but still...i wouldn't of chosen him to team Finland.

I got some inside information about the lines.

Laine, Barkov and Jokinen are going to stay together, wingers possibly changing the wing.

Aho is going to start as 13th forward.

Given the facts i predict the lineup is going to look something like this.

Laine-Barkov-Jokinen
Granny-Koivu-Donskoi
TT-Filppula-Lehterä
Torpedo-Haula-Komarov
Aho
