Anyways,

So is Aho going to be centering Laine or what are you guys thinking? Aho at centre or wing?

mtv3 just wrote that
Laine, Barkov, Jokinen is going to be a line.

Would guess Aho is a W on the bottom6.
Barkov, Koivu, Filppula & Haula are the expected C's.

If Laine is RW i will slap someone!

Filppula is better suited for wing than Lehterä imo

I'm just watching Leijonat inside pt.2 and Marjamäki's lines were (27.4)

JJ-Barkov-Lehterä
TT-Filppula-MiG
Komarov-Koivu-Donskoi
Korpikoski-[Haula]-[Salomäki]

I´d like to hear any logical argument why Laine-Barkov-Granlund would not be the best offensive line.

I'm going to hate it too if they put him as Rw.

That should be fun line for us Finns, but I guess the Worlds were enough to show Marjamaki that they have chemistry and he doesn't want to break them up.
But I hope he is going to try few different lineups, and if theres a line that doesn't work he's willing to make changes before it's too late.

Lehtinen, Marjamäki and Kekäläinen figured he'd be up to the job. Who else's opinion would you have wanted there?

Then there was Timonen, Selänne and...

I think this side of the process is in high danger of adapting too much Northern American influence. If there is a whole committee contributing who makes sure that 'GM' and head coach are on the same page of the head coach's playbook after all has been said and done.

I think it would be better 'group' if it would be Marjamäki assisted by Kekäläinen and assistants who made the team on merit in their respective fields. This off the ice selection narrows down the list of those who are welcomed to strengthen Finnish ice hockey only to those who 'qualified' with their playing career. I would rather see people who dedicated themselves to the play rather than playing.

Lehtinen, Selänne, Timonen and Koivu are brand ambassadors but what have they done on GM, scouting and 'assisting coaching' side of things. Nothing! I think those 'names' should not start from the highest echelon of ice hockey but from the lowest as they did with playing and then see where it leads them.

I am sure that the five biggest veteran names in Finnish ice hockey do not equal to five best off the ice experts in Finnish ice hockey. Fulfill those roles with competence.

It's a skating thing, most wingers that play their off-wing in the NHL(or high level tournaments) are high-end skaters.

Laine will still get plenty of time on the LW during the PP.

He showed this spring that he´s a good skater, during play-offs when he played LW, he made many nice rushes up the ice. Besides, this off-season he has had the biggest focus on acceleration. Skating is nowhere near an issue and should be really good when the games start.

On LW he can also cut in whenever he gets in the offensive zone and we all know why that is good and if defenders expect that he has proven that he has mastered the toe-drag and pulls it quickly to backhand and cuts in behind the player.

With Barkovs and Granlunds passing skills we are in for a treat if that line happens.

What they talked at document was that JJ needs the best center possible to get most out of him. Then Marjamäki was really keen to try Granny-Flip-TT fo their good puck moving and decicion making. Centers are written in stone. So I think it's going to be
Laine-Barkov-JJ
Granny-Flip-TT
Lehterä-Koivu-Donskoi
Aho-Haula-Komarov
Korpi

Many of us have mentioned before that more than likely it will be a line of JJ Barky Laine and Granny Koivu with Donskoi/Komarov/etc.
I too would love to see Laine Barky Granny but I'm afraid it won't happen.

I can also see Filppula being the third 3 centre. Overall, I think he is the best option if management wants that line to be more defensive oriented because Val is a better defensive centre and has more experience on the big ice (more years in the nhl and stanley cup experience) than Jori.

Either way, I think either one of Jori or Valtteri will do just fine being the third line centre.

JJ Barkov Laine >>>> I prefer Laine Barkov Granny
Granny Koivu Donskoi
Lehterä Filppula Komarov
Korpedo Haula TT
Aho

This. We need one truly great line to succeed in the World Cup and Jokinen doesn't have the required level, not anymore anyway. The Panthers originally signed him up to play with Barkov but that didn't work out. There's no reason to force it here and besides Laine belongs to the left with and having someone like Granlund feeding him would be so much better than what JJ brings to table. I just hope and pray the management gets this, but fear the worst at the same time.

Ye man. Absolutely. I'm hoping for this then:

Laine Barkov Granny
Jokinen Koivu Donskoi
Lehterä Filppula Komarov
Korpedo Haula TT
Aho

Is this really the best Finland can get...Looks bad, man. Aho should be in there in the mix.

Barkov and Laine looked good at the WHC. I assume he'll be playing on the LW, he looks better on his off-wing. He's got good passing on the backhand as well.

I'm really interested to see Aho. After going back and studying Pulju's game deeper after we drafted him and Aho really stood out to me. Great player.

Sorry man, I can't find a link. Copyright issues. I watched it on Viaplay. They have one month for free trial but I dunno if it works abroad. It will be later on free tv though.

One funny moment was when they were talking who will get the last spot. Super conscientious Salomäki or Laine, who makes mistakes, and is basically just a shot. Say this on hfboards and Laine-iacs will come at you :naughty:

Keklu rooted for Salomäki but Jere thought Laines shot is so insane they must pick him. There is also lack of right handed shooters. Good pick.

Naah, it was just a makeup story to build some "drama". Laine was all the time in (since WHC).

Even Kekäläinen said that both Aho and Laine belong in the tournament and it tells more about a positive problem if player like Salomäki caliber falls out.

On an NHL sized rink? last year Granlund scored just above 40 points, Jokinen got 60. Granlund is just flashier and has more of a star player flair, but Jokinen is better.

Per MTV3 Aho is will be the extra forward so maybe like this:

Jokinen-Barkov-Laine
Granlund-Koivu-Donskoi
Lehterä-Filppula-TT
Korpikoski-Haula-Komarov
Aho

I don't really see how Lehterä, TT or let alone Korpikoski is better player in any way.

Aho is a beauty and I hope he won't have problems with transitioning his game to NHL ice.

But like said before me looks like Aho is the extra forward, and I hate it.
1)Korpi should not be playing
2)Aho could use his time better, like going to Carolinas camp if this is the plan.
