Carter's been recovering from an injury so his numbers have been less than stellar this year. Up until he got hurt, he was over PPG and crushing everyone in the league but Larkin in +/-.

That being said, remember when everyone mocked his inclusion last time around and all he did was lead Canadian forwards in scoring and tie for 2nd in tourney +/-? Good times, keep trying to crap on him. :nopity:

Yeah I obviously never watch these players... Yet a few pages back I posted my 16. 15/16 right:yo: and my one mistake was homer putting in TJ Brodie and leaving Crawford off.

He's not bad defensively. But he's no Carter, Bergeron, or other two way guys. Only 6 or 7 top six guys are going. Crosby is a top 6 center. Toews or Getzlaf will be the other top 6. Stamkos, Benn, Seguin and Tavares are the top 6 wingers IMO. Where does that leave Giroux? 13th forward at best IMO. Not surprising IMO that Hall and Giroux are getting passed over for two-way guys.

I'd much rather have Giroux (who's very good defensively) than a strictly one way player like JT who really doesn't fill a need with the amount of scoring this team will have .

I guess they go very much on what they have done previously for canada and not just what has happen in NHL. But no Letang, no Burns or Subban is a little surprise, but some of them will probably be in the final team at least.

I would love to see a player like Letang that has had a lot of injuries and never really get the credit he deserves a shoot to prove himself.

I am a fan of Carter, but trying to say that he is more deserving than Giroux is just lunacy.

The US feds should get Giroux an expedited US citizenship before the world cup, Canada obviously doesn't want him.

People forget Carter was one of our best players in Sochi. Led the Babcock coached team for scoring with another King Doughty.

He was also a big part of that great junior team. Probably greatest ever that featured Sid, Bergeron, Getzlaf, and Phaneuf.

He was an easy choice to me. Glad Armstrong is following in Stevie Y's footsteps. I like what I see thus far in the picks!

I think Giroux should be there, I'm just pointing out that pulling CARTER for him is a fallacy when there are other players with lesser cases to be made...even more so when the full roster is out.

Carter has been an international hockey powerhouse since juniors and somehow people keep wanting to not see that because lolKings and lolmyguy.

People *****ing about Carter, which is exactly what happened in 2014, is yet another classic example of how clueless and uninformed a majority of people are.

He's been one of Canada's most productive players, was a huge part of the 2005 WJC that won gold, had a big impact on the 2014 Gold winning team, and two years later people still have no clue what they're talking about when they whine about Carter being on the team.

Lol okay lets leave the 3rd best Dman in the league off the team...Its a joke that Subban is not there.

God, they should have just announced the whole roster at once and avoided this lunacy.

100% chance both Giroux and Subban are on the team come September.

No reason to crap on the Vlasic and Carter selections. Canada is loaded with RHD that are puck carriers - Vlasic is Canada's best defensive LHD and was great in 2014 with Doughty. I am surprised that he was in the initial group, but he was always going to be picked. Carter looked great with Toews, is proven internationally and brings size to a smallish Canadian forward group.

I would have put Giroux in the initial 16 as a sign of good faith, but I am still expecting him on the final roster. Too versatile at this point, he should get one of the centre spots. Too valuable for special teams not to get regular minutes.

Getzlaf's selection without Perry is interesting. The management even said that Babcock wants pairs, so does that mean that Perry is a given? Do they want Benn with Getzlaf again, given that Canada doesn't have a viable LW candidate that makes sense with Getzlaf, other than possibly Hall? Interesting to see the lines. Benn with Getzlaf implies no Seguin with Benn, since Perry probably makes team as Getzlaf's RW, and Seguin might not fit anyway with Getzlaf at centre.

I care about his current level of play, not his past accomplishments.

As was Perry. How was he not included in the original group?
Giroux would be great as a 2nd line centre with Seguin and Benn on his wings.
Nash and Perry flank Getzlaf.
Would also like to see Burns make it on D.

I recall a young Eric Lindros playing in the Canada Cup. Don't rule out Mcdavid. Put him with this core. He will surprise. Well nothing he does should surprise us. But I would add him to this team before others are picked.

Subban was barely even used in 2014, he was like a spare dman on that roster, playing behind Doughty, Weber, Keith, Vlasic, Bouwmeester and Pietrangelo. He was also behind Hamhuis in usage.

If he is named to the roster he'll probably serve a similar limited role.

See, you shouldn't assume that he's eligible to play for Canada just because he is Canadian. Not in this bold, exciting World Cup!

Let's be honest, they aren't gonna stray much from the 2014 Olympic team that was so dominant.

Giroux will be in for Marleau.
And Duchene will be Hall or Marchand.
Nash could be Hall or Marchand or Eberle as well.

Duchene will likely be back.

Hall will be in for Sharp.

Not sure Marchand makes it.
