Sure, but this wasn't unexpected.
He's been pretty good for going to USA hockey events, sometimes a pass is OK, this is one of them

J.T. Compher will play for the US at the WC
I understand why some won't go,and I agree if you are injured or are in the last year of your contract there is a risk, I get that. What I am referring to is players like Kessel who don't go saying they are "tired" which is funny because I bet they wouldn't be tired for the playoffs! I'm just tired of watching team USA finish 5th, 6th and 7th etc. Looking at player availability this year they should have been able to ice a very strong team.
lol at 19 year old and still developing hockey players believing they need to unwind after a whirlwind season. Jack needs to be playing games in May for championships until there are no more games left to be played.
but oh well, it is what it is.
"It's a possibility. I played in it before, but you're going back four years," he said. "I'll wait until the season is over and talk about it."

"As the coach of the U.S. team it would be fantastic to have him for sure. But he doesn't have his contract for next year, so a lot of those things are difficult for players like that to make a decision. But as the coach of the team, all aside, I'd love for Kyle to play on it."
This is his first year of playing professional hockey and it's grueling number of games. He probably is tired right now and doesn't want to play in a tournament that means very little to many North Americans.
Sorry again. No Galchenyuk. Odd because like 10 days ago he said he wanted to go and now it's revealed he played the last month with this injury.
Matt Hendricks will play for the US at the WC once again
Wouldn't surprise me if the Habs brass convinced him into not going.Sorry again. No Galchenyuk. Odd because like 10 days ago he said he wanted to go and now it's revealed he played the last month with this injury.
Chris Wideman accepted invite.
Americans being hesitant to go to Russia doesn't help the situation.
Expect more to say yes next year.
