No I'm just an idiot :(

Now Now! Don't be so hard on yourself. honest mistake. don't let it happen again though. How could you forget a McEichel matchup at the WHC? That's the only thing that's driving my interest this year...unless of course 2 good teams show up...

I kinda feel like the US could have their best team in a long time going this year if some players say yes. Johnny Hockey, Eichel, Larkin, a couple of the Columbus guys (maybe Atkinson and Saad)up front and Jones and Johnson, if they can get Faulk, Gardiner, and EJ from Colorado.

That's a damn nice core to start the team off. Obviously Matthews is a good player as well, but I didn't include him because I've barely seen him play, but he'll know the ice and is obviously NHL ready.

edit: Forgot Bogosian and Hanafin.

I also feel like more of the younger USA guys go, maybe because of that National Development Team.

I feel that way too. I'm confident that their team will be good this year. The question is whether it's a legitimate gold-medal contender, which doesn't come around much often from the US. But it would be great for the tournament. It would be nice to show to the world (or better said to Europe) what the US hockey really is about because they don't deserve to be always ranked somewhere in the "maybe a bronze medal" category at this tournament. It's not like this tournament is super-important, obviously not, but they can do better than what we've seen in the past so far.

I mean he's obviously the most locked lock player on the roster!

Updated roster projection/wish list

Abdelkader-Larkin-Palmieri
Boucher-Galchenyuk-Saad
Gaudreau-Mathews-Milano
Vesey-Compher-Skille
Connor

Dekeyser-Faulk
Hanifin-Jones
Murphy-Trouba
McCabe

Sparks
Hellebuyck
Demko

Like that 4th line a lot. Yah will add Eichel later just in case :D

Gaudreau - Eichel - Palmieri
Ryan - Matthews - Wheeler
Pacioretty - Galchenyuk - Saad
Atkinson - Dubinsky - Abdelkader
Connor

Not sure if anyone has already denied an invite, but that's a fairly nasty forward group.

I'm very interested to see if Alex Lyon will be on this team again

Bobby Ryan won't be there and Eichel will very likely not be there either.

I think we can probably count out most World Cup participants. I saw a blurb about the whole CCM line from Michigan going.....

Yeah, I wouldn't really expect any of them there. Maybe some of the young guys like Eichel decide to play, but it's a lot of hockey to play in what will be a short summer for them with the World Cup.

I saw that too. I doubt they'd be very effective as a trio.

I honestly can't see Bowman letting Motte go as he just got signed to play for Rockford and will likely play Saturday. Rockford is a playoff team and the Hawks brass want Motte to get this experience and help their organization win. As long as Rockford is playing Motte won't be with team USA from everything we are hearing in Chicago.

Auston Matthews, Nick Foligno, Jack Eichel, Johnny Gaudreau, and Jimmy Vesey would be a great starting 5 to have...very young but super skilled.

Vesey is a UFA so maybe a risk for him to come if he hurts himself.

Eichel hopefully comes as he and Matthews are buddies and would be great to see the two again down the middle.

this team will be young but also looks like will have very few Euro players for once with all the up and coming kids we have.

It's been reported that Eichel will not be on the team as he's a little tired with a long rookie season and wants to be ready for the WCOH. Gaudreau needs a new contract and probably won't go because of that. Galchenyuk will likely go and Pacioretty is a candidate to go from everything I've read, which would be big for this team. Others I anticipate will come that aren't in the playoffs for sure are Atkinson, Seth Jones, Palmieri, Gardiner. Faulk is probably 50/50 and Trouba accepting wouldn't be a surprise. Larkin and Gostisbehere will be there seeing as their teams will be quick exits if they make the playoffs. Overall, this year's team will likely be more talented than last year's squad despite likely not likely having Eichel

Patrick Maroon is confirmed going to Russia for USA.

Sounds like Pat Maroon is playing.

I kind of expected him to be there. Had strong finish after the trade but, of course, he was playing with McDavid. Nonetheless, he's solid addition, could play nearly anywhere in the line-up.

So far Matthews, Foligno and Maroon are the only ones confirmed, right?
And coach Hynes.

But is it even confirmed that they won't go? It's still very early.

it's been reported, but not confirmed. So, we'll see where it goes.

The "I'm too tired after a long rookie season" excuse is bogus. Not having a contract for next year is a legit reason to take a pass. Although he's a young RFA and not a mid career UFA, he's not really risking that much by playing...

Right, but both Eichel and Gaudreau (and Saad) are playing in the World Cup! Given your posts I think you have excised that event from your memory..... :sarcasm:
