Wood from where? If you don't mind. Thanks

Miles Wood. Devils draft pick that they just signed to an ELC after his first year at Boston College. He played in the Devils' last game of the season this year and was on the World Junior team.

Thanks. That's why I asked. So Santini & Wood will play from the Devils. It will be interesting to see how they match up. I think both could make the Devils next season. Would you know if it's being shown on The NHL Channel in the U.S.?

I am sure this has been answered already at some point but is Seth Jones injured or something?

Surprised to see he isn't going back, he is such a dominant D-man on international ice.

Seems like of the games that will be televised, they'll all be on NBCSN. All of them are being streamed on NBC Sports Live Extra though. Here's the link for that info: http://teamusa.usahockey.com/page/show/2425773-2016-iihf-men-s-world-championship

Should be a good game tomorrow. Speed for days out there, I expect both sides will be flying on that big ice. Could be some very exciting hockey, those young legs will be a treat to watch.

Here's to an exciting game, good luck neighbour and best friend

With Carlson and Oshie highly unlikely to consider going, Team USA's best chance to get some reinforcements is the Islanders losing and ideally in 5 games and getting Leddy and Nelson to accept invites to complete the roster.

Niskanen/Orpik would be good too. More so Niskanen.

Niskanen or Leddy for the final D spot would be best case scenario. Both can move the puck and have really good shots. Niskanen is criminally underrated. With having so much youth, it would be nice to get a player as good as Niskanen is and good chance he would say yes with a World Cup spot available.

Can someone please explain to me how the hell these rosters are formed?

The way Team USA is put together is different than other countries. Any player that isn't in the playoffs when the tournament starts can be invited and a lot are invited, many decline. Team USA gives college kids about 4-5 guaranteed spots cause they use this tournament for development for significant young talent. That's why guys like Connor, Motte, Compher, Wood and Demko are on the team. Also, due to the star players who always turn down invites, USAH uses this tournament to give some guys opportunities to wear the USA sweater who ordinarily would never play on Team USA. That's why guys like Maroon and Hendricks are on the team as well as Schroeder. So, it's always a mix of young prospects/rookies or 2nd year players and established NHL players who are 3rd or 4th liners among teams who either miss the playoffs or get bounced early.

How do other countries differ and why do they have more star players?

http://www.iihfworlds2016.com/en/teams/#FIN

Various reasons. Take Finland for example, 7 of the 22 players are NHL players, whose teams, are out of the playoffs and would already be heading back to Finland anyway (to be with relatives for the most part). 12 of the 22 Finnish players just got done playing in Europe and Russia, possibly some other countries overseas, those players are already there.

If Minnesota and Florida are not out of the playoffs then how many NHL players would be playing for Finland ? Another reason is that many US players already committed to the World Cup in the fall, are UFA/RFAs, are injured, needing surgery, and then there are some that just turned the invite down.
