O'Reilly on representing Canada again:

“You want to win again,” he said. “You want to prove you’re the best country and go from there. For myself, obviously, that has crossed my mind if I can play well there and give myself a better chance to play on the World Cup team, it’d be great. At the same time, in order to do that you’ve got to focus on going over there and winning.”

Eberle is actually a big loss for this team. He's played the tournament a lot though, only refused in 2014 I believe.

No big deal, but Connor McDavid is officialy confirmed by the Edmonton Oilers.

The next thing I want is some players to make some room for mcdavid...................I don't want him pushed around.

Could Jenner do a good job in that role?

Has jenner confirmed?

The only player i see that confirmed is oreilly?

Any other players have confirmed? I see lots of names thrown around but no confirmation except for oreilly

Well, nothing is really official yet, but at least 4 players are 100% in - McDavid, Hall, Duchene, and O'Reilly. There's a plenty of other players that may or may not go, and they have been asked, but that doesn't neccessarily mean they will be going for sure. I read an article about Ceci, who has been invited and has accepted, and according to him it's still not 100% even though he said yes. The first group of players will be likely announced tomorrow, and that will be the first and real official list.

Quite a surprise to me, a positive one, Kadri is interested in playing if he gets an invitation.

I think i understand whats going on with the players saying they got invited but nothing is 100%

They are building an "A" option and "B" option in case they cant get the "A" players
That is why some players daid they were invited but nothing is 100%

A player like tanev is a "B" option

No thanks. I hope we can do better.

Rielly??? for sure! if he gets the o.k. from the doctors and is good to go, welcome aboard. but send Kadri home for the summer for his diving and obscene gestures he has a habit of making... don't need that type of player on Team Canada.

NYI v Panthers: Panthers in 5 (I'll take J.T. thank you very much)
PITT v NYR: PITT wins in 6 (I'll take R Nash if he wants to come along for the ride and notch one more WC title to his bed post, but nobody else on the Rangers interests me, maybe Brassard)
CAPS v PHILLY: CAPS in 5 (I'll take S. Couturier and B Schenn, Giroux as well if he wants, but doubt he'll accept...and I forgot Simmonds. He'd be a welcomed addition and more than a worthy replacement on RW for Eberle)
TBL v DRW: doesn't matter who wins, nobody on either team interests me, nobody available that is, other than one injured and pending UFA)

STARS V MINNY: STARS in 6 (since Gio and Brodie in Calgary want to be dicks, I'll take Spurgeon and Scandella)

ST.LOUIS v CHI TOWN: CHI in 7 (I'll take Schwartz, Pietrangelo and Parayko)

DUCKS v PREDS: DUCKS in 5: (I'll take Johansen and Neal)

L.A. v SHARKS: Sharks in 7: (I'll take Toffolli, Muzzin and Doughty)

Burns not go?

Burns not go?

I predict the sharks beat L.A., therefore Burns and other Shark players will not available. and we don't add players once the tournament starts. So, it will be 22 players named to the roster on Day 1 and those are the 22 who will play regardless of who may become available later.

Tavares and Pietrangelo are the biggest prizes here, as I really cannot imagine Doughty attending. Schwartz is enticing as well, and I think he would go. Johansen refused last year, so I don't see him going this year.

just because he's a refusnik one year doesn't mean he's a refusnik for his entire career. I'm prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt this time. If he's available and healthy, and refuses again, then Hockey Canada should just delete his phone number and just leave instructions with him should he ever at some point want to play in this tournament, give us a call, but we won't be calling you at anytime ever! and as far a best on best tournament goes, you can forget it. We have too many other players more deserving of roster spots.

Triple Gold Club:)

I'm not sure that any Canadian has gone out of their way to express their thoughts on the "triple gold club" outside of Duchene. It's an obvious and shameless attempt by the IIHF to leach off the events put on by bigger entities (Stanley Cup and Olympics) in order to make its own vent (World Championship) seem more significant. Most people presumably can see that. Doughty already had the easiest chance he will ever have to win this tournament last year and refused.

I'm sure that he was asked in 2014 as well, and refused. We'll see.

I don't recall that. I know that was his one and only playoff appearance. We'll see this year. Maybe he is just another Adam Oates who just doesn't see the value in international hockey. If that's the case, then so be it. We have other players who do.
