Giordano still leaning towards not going, wants to spend time with family. Not for sure yet either way. Nothing new, was rumored last week I believe.
Dougie Hamilton said he declined the invite, wants to train more in the off-season instead

Boone Jenner is in too. That is 9 forwards. Bergeron isn't going, was playing through injury. Mike Smith isn't going, Domi hasn't been asked. D.Hamilton has turned down the invitation.

The Flames were last in the league for goals against so it's probably for the best that half of our defence isn't made up of their players.

Certainly doesn't look good on Treliving. Gio - I'm disappointed, but can understand. pissed at Brodie. Hamilton? Glad he turned down the invite, as I was and am hoping for better.
Loving this offense, but unless we get some quality defencemen we'll be needing to win each game 6-5.

Pretty embarrassing for Treliving. Nill brought Spezza, Seguin, Eakin and Benn was going to go before he was informed that he needed surgery. Seems like he has little influence on his own players if they aren't even citing injuries. Very disappointed in Brodie.
It's starting to look like the 2013 team. Though, as shown last year, a good system can lead to strong defensive play from mediocre defensive players.

Having the worst goalies in the league will do that to you. If you don't think that Gio and Brodie are two of the best defensemen in league you're out to lunch.
Hamilton is whatever, I didn't want him on this team.

The first round of the NHL playoffs ends, at worse, 10 days before the start of the world championships, so I think we can definitely expect something more coming up after the 1st round.

a better choice than Hamilton. Hutton and Tanev will make a good 3rd pairing. I do hope we get 4 significant additions, a little older and a little more experienced. This team is trending tooooooooooooooooooooo young.

Not so thrilled about Hutton, but there have been a fair number of refusals it seems.
In an interview with TSN last week McPhee talked about wanting to go with a more experienced group. Doesn't seem to be reality though, which isn't necessarily bad. This team needs a defensive leader and someone who can bump each centre down one spot.

At his point I'm really hoping now for Tavares to be that number 1 center. Giroux on RW and move Duchene up to play LW. 3, possibly 4 elite level d-man and only then will I be happy.
looking at the playoff series, there is a big potential among defensemen in the series between SJO x LAK, and CHI x STL. It would really surprise me if we didnt get a single one from these. Among forwards, I do hope we get one of Giroux/Tavares.

Not surprising. Hockey Canada and people associated with HC talk a lot, and it usually oozes out of something other than their mouths. It's Hockey Canada. My TVs are safe so long as I don't see Salmond's ugly mug on it.

Hamhuis is an interesting case, I don't mean for Worlds, but as a player, he might even be in contention for another spot in 2018.
He is a completely different player on the larger surface. He's dominating, his gap control, outlets, patience, he does it all. He was 7th defenseman in Sochi. He was number 1 in Prague and he with Burns just had the time of their lives.
He was born for that big sheet.
