People who s*** on Pep now are more obnoxious than the people who worshipped the ground he walked on while with Barca.

C'mon, you're just being jealous there :) Everybody knows that Köln is the best city in Germany, although there are some positives about Munich and Berlin as well.

It's unfortunate that traditional teams like HSV and 1.FC have not been able to keep up with the rest of Europe in the last few decades, but Köln definitely should be above teams like Dortmund, which is half of its' size. Too bad that Bayern saved Dortmund from bankrupty, that's another weird occurrence in German football.

Looking from outside, it's bit odd that Köln aren't attracting top (youngish) talent regularly compared to other Bundesliga teams. Great city, good/passionate crowds, good money, what's not to like? They won't be rivalling Bayern any time soon, but they certainly should be pushing higher than they currently do.

You rarely hear them being after international level guys like back in the old days.
There are indeed some who praise the city of Cologne lavishly. But each of them is coming from Cologne himself. On the other hand, Hamburg is universally loved...

But serious, I do think that the city of Cologne attracts some young talented players. Since they want to earn as much as possible, they play for Leverkusen.

Cologne has learned from their mistakes and spends money prudently now. So you will not find these top-rated namens, but lots of able players. With Schmadtke in charge, I expect them to step up a few spots further next season.

Gruß,

What? lol

Lewa is a great finisher

But Benz is more complete

Lewa is even an inconsistent finisher. Benz is more creative, more technically sound, and scores more goals per 90 minutes than Lewa too, and a far higher portion of his goals come when Real is down or tied with an opponent than Cristiano's or Bale's. Beats me why no one rates him.

Pep said Lewa is the smartest footballer he has ever worked with.

Lewa is a very#2 behind Suarez as the best #9 imo.

No he didn't. He said Lewandowski is the most professional player he has ever worked with, Lahm the smartest, and Pizarro the best striker. Pep is prone to hyperbole, but one should at least take his evaluations seriously if he says he likes a player

Eberl is apparently preparing to make another run at Tielemans, now ready to go past the "schmerzgrenze"...point where it becomes painful...*crosses-fingers & sacrifices SEPH to the football-gods*

He probably died of shock when Wenger finally spent all that money on a defensive midfielder anyway. :sarcasm:

Marc Bartra can apparently be had for as little as 8 million euros since he didn't play in enough matches last season.

Barca needed to give Mathieu all those minutes.

Not entirely. Mathieu didn't play CB every appearance he had and at times they were playing together. On top of that at times it made more sense to play Mathieu. To an extent though, yes, absolutely some of those minutes went to Mathieu.

Moneywise Leverkusen surely is the first choice in that region, but I like what Stöger/Schmadtke are doing in Cologne, Eberl in Gladbach I like, too.

Pretty sure, he said Lahm was the smartest player he's worked with...considering how many positions he used him for, it makes sense.

While I'd prefer either of the two clubs you mentioned, I'm actually for the move. That's not a bad sum at this stage, there's a buyback and I don't see him making the team anytime soon anyway.

Sum ain't bad but I really like halilovic. Would hate to see a talented good kid waste his skill. People overhyped him when he was younger but he's still a good prospect.

Yeah, Valencia are a disaster.

Celta would have been a great fit, same for Villareal...

They're not going to get any better, judging off the "new" hire coach.

Yeah I don't put too much stock into what Pep says

 Pep Jackson tried to tell Eto'o how a striker should play

I seriously doubt that when in fact Cesc asked him for advice during a goal drought...Pep's response was why would you ask me I scored 4 goals in my career. But your just trolling because of jealousy.

Kid will be a steal for whoever snaps him up. Don't really care what anyone says this kid has legit talent.

If UEFA has messed up, man that's bad..

Not that Kolo instead of Sakho lost Liverpool the Europa League title, but still awful from UEFA

Alen's a great talent, he showed that this season as well with Sporting. He won't get ruined in Valencia, I expect him to establish himself as a top notch footballer in the next couple of seasons.

And Pep said that about Lahm.

Could some of our la liga watchers comment on the BVB linked Jefferson Lerma? I found I long video of his from wyscout and he looks impressive...though this looks like a "best actions" compilation, not one that highlights what he still needs to work on.

When was the last time you had a competent coach?
