I was thinking about what Arsenal would need to become a real powerhouse...even if they added RiRo as well as Xhaka...and there's still a lot to be done. They'd still need to invest at CB; add another forward of Lexi's caliber, while improving the general talent of the offensive depth; and convincing Arsene to play either a 3-4-1-2/3-1-4-2 or a 4-1-2-1-2. If all of that happened, then they could be a real CL contender & genuine giant.

Lexi - Griez*
RiRo - Mesut - Santi - Bellerin
Xhaka
Laporte* - Kos - Gabe/CC
Cech

*or Cavani, Icardi, Lacazette, Yarmolenko, Draxler, Sane;
Romagnoli, Umtiti, Bartra, Can, Luis Gustavo; respectively.

Wouldnt be surprised if Ricardo Rodriguez struggles in the EPL. He is like Kolarov lite.

I don't think replacing Monreal with Rodriguez is a tipping point to make them a contender. Monreal is great defensively and is a scary good passer as a LB as well.

Need to add at least one world class CB. Bartra is a guy I think Wenger will be after.

Rodriguez will be a pointless buy.

How about skip the full spending spree and just replace Wenger

Getting rid of Wenger and replacing him with a top manager in world football should make them a title contender, even with their current squad. There probably aren't any managers available right now since they decided not to go for Guardiola, Mourinho, Ancelotti, Klopp when they were available, but maybe go the interim route, and get a manager for the the 2017-18 season.

As far as transfers go, they need a very good center forward and a very good center-back.

Zieler having a medical at Leicester. Not sure if I understand this signing, Kasper Schmeichel was completely reliable this year.

Zieler costs 3,5 m€. Not much for a former German NT goalie. That's why.
Good luck, Ron, it wasn't your fault.

Also has home grown status in England.

True. Sir Alex liked him a lot.
Solid player, not fancy, but reliable. Playing behind one of the worst defence units for years. Never complaining, just doing his job. Have fun, Ron, you deserve the CL.

Even EPL teams that are happy with their starter should have gone after Zieler at that price with homegrown status.

According to Sun Sport, Roma rejected a 27M pound bid from Chelsea for Radja Nainggolan. Roma wanted at least 35M pounds for him. Had Roma accepted the bid, Radja would have rejected it anyways. Reports came out saying that he wants to stay in Roma and the only club he would consider going to is Manchester United.

Any word on Oscar? I read that Chelsea are looking to sell and I'd be very curious to see where he lands. Interested parties might want to make a move before the Copa America gets underway as well.

Would love to see Roma get that sort of money for him.

I doubt a notoriously bad English tabloid has insider info about a deal between an Italian and a Chinese club. Anyway, if Roma were to sell Nainggolan, they'd have more time for Paredes - who has higher potential anyway - and they could spend the money on other positions... or on saving the club, which is apparently in extreme financial turmoil.

Daily Express says Chelsea is allowing him to leave with Juve still being the front runners. I expect him to move this summer. Apparently Jose Mourinho is interested in reuniting with Willian at Man Utd but Conte isn't too keen on letting him go.

Leicester's management don't seem to be happy with their current goaltending, because according to kicker they first asked Timo Horn (Cologne) to use his buy-out clause. He denied and after that they went after Zieler.
Sorry, can't find the link anymore. I will post it when I find it.
