For those who want to verify my greatness do a little searching about 3 or 4 years ago when a correctly predicted Mookie Betts ability

I'm a baseball guy first and hockey third which is why my hockey record of evaluating is so poor but baseball I'm as good as it gets

With that I give you a name

Bobby Dalbec

I'm at Spinners and this kid last 2 times I've watched he's hit 3 bombs

He's got Trumbo power and athletic

Stud

I have not forgotten your early opinions on Betts. Thought it was complete overhype at the time. Glad you were right.

He's having some issues from the right side of the plate and his defense is a work in progress at 3rd (not that he's been horrendous or anything, just not a lot of experience there in the pros)

I think he will be up to play 3rd against righties and run as needed

Very surprised at this but Shaw has fallen off the deep end - be interesting how bad Panda wants it and can he do a Hanley

Kudos to HanRam for a 180. He could put up 25/100

Nothing comes easy for this team but should win a minimum of 4 over next 6 games. Two last place teams.

Just gave another charitable donation to the Jerry Remy fund......why did I bother coming back to my desk? I love Friday liquid lunches.

Highlander Question: Once the Red Sox are confirmed to host the Wild Card round, who'd you prefer they host at Fenway Park? BAL/DET/NYY?

As a courtesy to those who are not familiar with the Highlander franchise:

Watching the O's-Yankees on mlb they were talking about Moncada coming up and joking where are the Red Sox getting all these great young stars- every time you turn around one is coming up

This reminds me of the early 70's when Fisk, Evans, Burleson, Cooper, Lynn, Rice and showed up on the scene

An absolutely amazing group of young talent

The Bruins had this a few years back when we saw Bergeron, Krejci, Lucic, Kessel, Wheeler, Marchand all come in and give new life, talent, and energy to a last place team

Betts Boegaets Bradley Binentendi Moncada and not ruling out Travis, Swihart, Vasquez and others

Just need to hit on some pitching

That would help.

Was living in Bristol when they picked up the Sox AA club. First year they had Rice, Lynn, Tim Blackwell catching. Rice was MVP but Blackwell was first to the majors. That team came in last.

You know who was outstanding? Cecil Cooper and was just a horrific trade- mirrored the Seguin deal

Cecil Cooper for George Scott - Seguin for Eriksson

Major components of course

Still upset about that:laugh:

He's not quite dead yet.

I drafted Shaw in the third round of my APBA game rookie draft so I have added incentive to see Shaw do well.

In that same day I had the second overall pick in player re entry and The Tribe's Carrasco was my guy. For 3 weeks when I knew the first pick would be CarGo I'd get Carrasco. Well that morning I read an article about the D'Backs Corbin and when I walked up to the table I inexplicably took Corbin over Carrasco.

I'm still upset about that but my therapist assures me if Carrasco starts sucking and Corbin does a 180 I'll feel better

Living up to baseball genius can be tough at times ;)

All seriousness this could be an amazing month of baseball

True, but I don't think anyone imagined Coop was going to hit .300 for 7 straight years when traded to the Brewers. Or knock in 100 runs 4 times. Guessing the ballpark and lineup in Milwaukee (and maybe the press?) made him a much more comfortable hitter.

Cooper and Seguin even compared in the 1975 WS and 2013 Cup. He certainly was a great player and Rice's best bud

The Red Sox remind me of 70's now right down to the train wreck bullpen the questionable back end starters and the manager - Farrell is a combo of Darrell Johnson and Don Zimmer. Johnson in the way he manages and Zim in the way the fans and some media perceive him

Very harsh for Farrell, eh? Yeah, Darrell Johnson's managing was right up there with Johnny Pesky and Eddie Kasko. In the 1975 Series he may have been a bit overmatched against Sparky Anderson. But the 1986 World Series may have been the worst managed Series ever with Davey Johnson going against John McNamara.
