Don't touch what works and works well. I definitely wouldn't trade Dahlin and Thompson. I also don't want to trade Power and Peterka. Of the young players, it's Benson and Helenius. That's my list.

Sure, you can say the cliched phrase "at the right price," but we need to fix the second line and get at least one top 4 D (two if Byram trading). I think we have enough assets to solve this.

One of Dahlin, Power, or Byram needs to go and be replaced by a defensively responsible vet (preferably RHD). If Jokiharju can be replaced by a similar defensive RHD vet, that would round out the D-corps very nicely. If KA hasn't figured that out yet he never will. He actually thought adding Byram was THE move. I don't see any hope for the current group, unless they learn a lot while progressing into vets themselves...in another 3-4 years...

Frankly I’d rather do Peterka for Crouse.
is everyone a bot? w the overarching theme of we suck sabres suck our good players suck until they are w some other team .

be original if you're human, not a robotic debt slave in my way on yer friggin phone not pulling out because yr not in the moment or too much of a chiclenshit

peterka could be a top 50 scorer in this league without Thompson he's really young If Quinn heals from his complete body replacement ( which he's flashed last year and has been shite until a confident player was centering him w Benson Quinn could be better than peterka and how old are they

they suck after 16 games? Really 12 games and may be just the games he's played w Benson as cozens is a nonchalant but stressed head case that finally is starting to play and focus without over thinking .

All that his shot had sucked just like tuch so far .

we wouldn't be complaining about his cavalier passes that aren't precise on zone entry and cozens inability or confidence to one time a shot and actually place it where we all know ( except him) what he can do.

worse he believes in himself and isn't taking the time to be fundamentally sound w each step of setting up to shoot .

these kids all need to take a page from the cockiest , thinks higher of himself than the world ( don't listen to them now by the way) Krebs, Peyton

These kids need to hit everything play simple until they stop thinking enough to maybe , outskill their peers again . channel Paul Cyr , become briere , kill your precise inner turgeon and be Brian Spenser w skill! F it can't over think hitting. winning puck battles!

everyone abusing my give a team a breakaway dahlin and Nancy power c'mon . dahlin like hedman and lidstrom takes time become error free .

They needed someone , a straight man to be there so they all can improvise

power will come along piss him off , all the first rounders seem to think they don't have to change and become psychotically better

they need shaming from an old vet who they actually respect that calls them out each shift every cocky detail but funny fun abuse , their better than everyone BUT their not Kevyn another weird name like Peyton Tage etc

pay for a real top 4

tough honorable guy that's a Victor hedman any D man that hasn't HAD to , turn into a cheap shot trouba to scare the league but earned the league's respect the right way

got to be worth a first roumder , trade the next softy gen z that'll take 5 years to trust

is letang a douche ? can Mike Ramsey come back and play so power doesn't go housley or worse the risto zadarov duo of low intelligence

byram, power and dahlin are all good enough to take the puck from behind our net and gain the opposing zone every shift No Shite.

They need a real stay at home D and a center that's so ice aware and no ego on the ice that's as defensively responsible as Ryan oreilly but isn't a tool I actually think they have it in McLeod and maybe if cozens gets his confidence and tuch tage

we just need a great older top 4 and another high end scorer so Krebs is playing 40 to 60 games never cockey on the shortest leash as he's great til he actually believes he's Wayne gretsky ,

instead some one should follow him around til he finally matures into some reality or actually becomes a top ten center, realizing the Legend in his own mind

until then somebody follows him around whips Keith gretskys ahl Jerseys at him everytime he tries to be heroic and fails , you're manifesting Keith not Wayne

Keith! that's your name Keith!

Based on some discussions on the Islanders board, if we continue to float around .500 but can't break the ice...

Something like Barzal and Dobson for Byram and Cozens?
That's shuffling deck chairs to a certain extent. Dobson is rather redundant, just right-handed.

As far as the Barzal/Cozens swap....it all depends on how Cozens looks.......Cozens brings more of what we need, when he's right.

takin a new headache fix what we have by paying for an adding a D they can respect for his skill and trust to cover their asses

same as adding an all star plays every night winger like Zucker and you watch this team w without Tage and then dominate w him

don't trade away let lindy fix what he can then trade and pay a lot for the two he lacks Adding a jack drury or a older but great barkov type that gets it

we're closer than people think , but we'll see two guys that are beyond ignoring , D and a Dale hawrrchuck everyone wants on their line that isn't a douche drury not easy rumor was they tried karmanos agrees w all of you and ruff

Before the Canadians game, I texted this to my nephew:

“3 in a row, playing.500 hockey, and in a playoff spot after 15 games. I’m ok so far. They are a really good team sometimes, young and stupid other times.”

My thoughts:

It’s hard to take that step we all hoped for when….Dahlin has been injured, and just not been that heartbeat of the team we’ve seen….I also expected Quinn to be a legitimate top six forward….Cozens too….these were all Sabres players last year and came into the season “blah.”

The new Sabres? McLeod has been better than talked about….Zucker has been solid, as has been the other new Sabres.

While he’s done ok, Benson shouldn’t be in the nhl….yet.

Levi doesn’t belong in the nhl…maybe yet.

I still see the team gelling a bit and hanging around all year, looking better as the year goes on, such a young team. If we’re going to do something, I’d like a solid, smart trade of a combo of Rosen, Krebs, picks, Joki to bring in a solid rd….I like the Murphy from Chicago the best because he’s not a puck mover but would balance out the top 4…I think we’ll be fine. Playing.500ish after 16 is about what we expected, Ruff will get to them and we’ll balance out as a team once we do.

Well, Barzal would be very useful to us, maybe even if the deal could go through without Cozens.

I just can't even with this. What is the point?

Byram is the redundant D not your two long term #1 D. Dahlin has been more gaffe prone this year, but he is elite at everything else statistically. Power has been excellent.

So the Instigator Podcast discussed the math on a Samuelsson buyout, and if he can’t be moved this year, I think it’s something Adams (or whomever the new GM is) should seriously consider.

If done this summer, it’s $714K for 10 years, with real dollar savings of about $14 million for ownership. He has been a negative when in the lineup and we know he is good for a long term injury every year.

That's silly. You can find someone to take on the contract

That is actually not a bad idea. That cap hit is hardly anything. In 5 years its practically nothing.

The other wildcard on that front is the fact that if they wait a year, the buyout multiplier jumps from 1/3 to 2/3 if they buy him out after the 2025-26 season.
