BPA is tough to nail down for sure but there is more at play when it comes to Nylander for me.....I think he is really talented but I believe I am recoiling a bit for reasons outside his skill. He is another skilled finesse forward and maybe o just don't want to end up with too many of this type. Not sure Mort

I have that plus reacting to his brother with the Leafs plus some comments I saw months ago that he is not as good as his brother. I just wouldn't want to have the wrong Nylander to go with the wrong Klingberg and the wrong Raffl (and probably the wrong Tanev too).

Like Tkachuk I hope someone else takes him leaving as good or better a player to fall to us.
Lets see:
1. Matthews
2. Laine
3. Puljujarvi
4. Juolevi (That's Edmonton - we all know they will take a D, why not the wrong one?)
5. Tkachuk
6. Nylander
7. Choice of PLD, Chych (That's us :5: )

I don't see a team taking Nylander over PLD. Maybe someone takes Juolevi over Chychrun. Then for me it would be a tough choice between Jost and Chychrun and maybe Sergachyev.

I'm okay with Jost can we just take him now and run?

I think we can saunter away with Jost unless we pick lower than 7. I would be very happy with Jost if the Jets don't end up with a top-3 pick. Jost gives me a Toews-lite vibe.

I think Joe, said a few weeks ago that the Jets are very high on one of Jost or Fabbro. We'll see if it means anything come draft day.

Yah, that is just a fantasy really. I could move us up to 6th though so that Nylander is still on the board. Then it might be a bit of a long-shot but not out of sight. Not really any more unlikely than us getting Connor at 17 last year.

Jost is looking good but I think people are being a little over-influenced by the U18s. We need to remember that this is not the U20s we are watching. And his regular season stats were compiled in a second tier junior league, albeit a good one. I think he still belongs closer to 15+ than to top 10.

And as I write that he is having a 5 pt game. "Recalculating, recalculating."

Jost with the hattie. I would not be upset if he ended up a Jet. I want Bitten also. #36?

Chychrun hasn't been great today

Jost is good. Watch him light up UND next year. People said Connor was scoring high in a 2nd rate junior league as well and look how that turned out.
kid can play hockey. He may even be a darkhorse in 25 years to be considered the best in this class.

We just picked Connor who was picked 15+ for the same reasons last year. And he wasn't even good enough to make his U20 team at 18 :sarcasm:

It definitely means something that he is finally playing side by side against many other soon to be draft picks and he looks among the best.

It'd take a couple teams jumping us in the lottery for him to end up being our pick I'd guess.

Its not so much that he is lighting up this tournament (Definitely helps) its his skill set and smarts. He is a very gifted offensive player, he does it all at an extremely high level.

High end vision and very gifted passer.
Excellent offensive awareness around the net and a real good shot.
Excellent puck control skills
Very good all around skater

This coupled with an already excellent defensive game and high character and leadership skills.

He fits the True North template to a tee imo. I don't take him if we pick top 3, but 6 or 7 I would have no issue grabbing him unless a guy like PLD falls. He screams a Scheifele caliber riser to me. I think his play in a lower league has him undervalued like Conner a year ago,

He actually has a lot of the same attributes of Little, but might have a bit better offensive creativity. I really like the whole package.

Yeah, stylistically he resembles Little quite a bit. I also think he might have better vision and creativity. I wouldn't have an issue with a Brian Little caliber player at 6 or 7 overall.

I mentioned Scheifele due to him coming out of nowhere to go around 7th overall.

I have zero problems with Jost or Keller in the top 10 this year since I have allot of issues sorting this out after my top six. My one request/hope is I want to see Jost's O florist against top teams.....he seems to be making a meal out of the lesser talent so far. Lots to love about Jost's game though and I sense that he might be Joe's hint of who TNSE might like? In some ways it would be cool having a top prospect at UND because I might just road trip to catch a game. Good get on the Little comp boys.

We could do worse than landing Jost at 7-8 Lottery luck and fallers luck notwithstanding :naughty:

You may be right on Jost, but I just don't see it with a top 7 pick.

At this point barring any drastic surprises in the top 5 or 6 Jost is probably my hopefor the Jets selection.

Don't think Chychrun will last until the Jets pick and both Juolevi and Sergachev scare me.

Focus on nabbing two defensemen with their next two picks.

I'd take him at 6 pretty easily if this is the way the draft went.. Matthews, Laine, Pulju, PLD, Chychrun. I was high on him the first time I saw him and haven't stopped. That raw talent is already so much to build on.

He reminds me of Tyler Seguin so much. The size, the skating, creativity, passing ability, vision, release, ability to beat guys one on one.

I too think he's going to be a major riser. Edwards had him at 10 in his last prospects ranking so who knows how high he might have him in the end. He's definitely the type of player that True North values.

But is he worth taking at 7 -- if PLD, Tkachuk, Chych are gone, yes. Even if one of the the latter two are there, we just might have him as a Scheif draft riser. Even if we don`t take him, I`ll bet he goes top 10.

So where do you have Jost ranked?

Before I saw him and only watched highlights a few months ago.. he was 10 on my list. Now that I've seen him play and have continued to keep more of an eye on him he's #6 in my top 15.

3. Puljujarvi
4. PLD
5. Chych
6. Jost
7. Sergachev
8. Tkachuk
9. Keller
10. Nylander
11. Fabbro
12. Juolevi
13. McLeod
14. Brown
15. Gauthier
