Guys I am starting to get some jitters on Juolevi. Most of it was from watching him against Kitchener getting eaten alive by the forecheck but I decided to ask London fans the question and here is the stream I got. most of these replies were from guys that are either Knights fans or view allot of OHL.

Now take it all with a grain of salt and everyone here formulates their own opinion based on their viewings and research but I am just trying to add a bit to the body of information.

That is superb info ps! I wasn't high on him before but figured i was maybe underselling him. Now, I'm not too sure if I'd even want him with our second first round pick.

There aren't really any London homers defending Juolevi though - the reports back are widely negative. If you asked around here there are plenty of people that would make a strong case for Enstrom or Kane.

Right after the Kane trade Buffalo fans came here asking about him and I think as a whole, we gave a darn accurate portrait of his on-ice tendencies. And didn't Garret carpet bomb the Enstrom-sucks argument with his infernal stats last week?

Anyway, unless it was just bad timing, you'd think you'd get some kind of split on whether a guy is good or not...

Yep, the lack of opposing viewpoints from the fans is a bad sign. On the other hand, Edwards has him at 7th & I trust him a fair bit on these. In any case, he's way down on my personal list of D prospects behind Chych, Serg for sure

Very uncommon. That's an 18+ tourney, for sure. Where would you place him in this draft?

Probably 8-10, at least from a Jets perspective. I think I like Jost better, all things considered. I still think he's probably the 2nd or 3rd D, though.

I'm still not high on Juolevi.
Watched a boat load of London, Sarnia and windsor games this year. I'm not going to pretend to be an expert or ask anyone to value my opinion over someone who does, Mark Edwards, but I will continue to question someone that has watched Chych, Serg and Juolevi play and would rate Juolevi higher based on this season of OHL play.
Obviously he was the best of the 3 at the WJC's but that's moreso, IMO, because the other two didn't go.
I would rank Juolevi as the 4th maybe 5th best defencemen potential wise in this class based off the games I've seen.
I mean out of the 10 or so London games I've seen he wasn't the best defencemen on the ice in a single one of them. And wasn't even the best defencemen on his team on easily the most dominating team in the Major Junior circuit. And based off what I've seen in the playoffs he hasn't impressed me at all. I really feel like he's been riding the WJC performance pretty hard. It's not the first time this has happened. And it's not the first time scouts have overrated a player based on a single tournament.

Tkachuk with a Hattie, and now up to 13g and 13a in 11 playoff games. I think he only has 3 or 4 secondary assists, so he's at about 2 primary points per game in the playoffs. Somebody is going to select him in the top 6, I would think. I'd be fine with him.

I also like Jost. He gives the impression of a player between Toews and Little. He looks to have fantastic leadership abilities.

I know nothing about Tkachuk, just have a bad feeling about him for some reason.

Tkachuk will be hard for GM's to lay off of in the top 6 picks. Power forwards with high end skills don't grow on trees anymore and his playoff performance isn't hurting his stock. He has two great linemates but he carries his weight and provides a missing element. In some ways he fits the Jets young core very well.

I am kind of dreaming bigger but if we land Matthew Tkachuk at 6 or 7 I will be satisfied.

Wow, if you ask me this was the last nail in Juolevi coffin.

Yeah totally. Hadn't read any of that before. Sounds a lot like his World Juniors had him ranked higher than he should have been. Nice homework ps. After reading thay it sounds like Tkachuk is way better if it comes down to the two of them.

I have allot of respect for Mark Edwards who has Juolevi ranked high so I am a bit confused really. Hoping to get more viewings of him if they would just get the Knights games back on TV.

Tkachuk strikes me as the type of player who will make people wonder in ten years why we were so skeptical about the numbers.

An Oilers fan on the main board posted this comparing players on "super-lines" from the past like Tkatchuk is on right now (ofcourse the Oilers fan was trying to use this to anti-hype Marner but could be applicable to Tkachuck). Will curb a lot of people's enthusiasm:

Allow me to bring in the example of the 2006/2007 London Knights.

Kane 145 points
Kostitsyn 131 points
Gagner 118 points.

Or Crosby's 2004/2005 Rimouski Oceanic:

Crosby 168 points
Roussin 116 points
Pouliot 114 points

Now, Marner's 2015-2016 Knights:

Dvorak 121 points
Marner 116 points
Tkachuk 107 points.

it's like a shell game - find the ball, except in this case the ball is the elite NHLer. Under the other two shells are average - at best - players.

I really liked Jost, but really want a lottery pick. Puljujarvi was easily the most impressive player to me.

I don't understand the Puljujarvi hype, I have posted this before but here's his draft year compared to Armia's in the same league

Player|Games|Goals|Assists|Points|Penalty Mins
Armia|48|18|11|29|24
Puljujarvi|50|13|15|28|22

I don't understand the hype at all. :dunno: If we are questioning Juolevi's ranking being buoyed by the the Juniors, how much is Puljujarvi's ranking being boosted by the same tournament. His Liiga stats are virtually identical to Armia's. Armia was ranked as a mid 1st round pick

I would tend to agree. Every draft people look back and say I can't believe player X wasn't picked earlier or I can't believe team Y let that player slip by when they had the chance. It is the nature of the draft. If we don't move into a lottery position and stay at the 6 - 7 range I think we could do a lot worse than Tkachuk.

I still think the Leafs take Tkachuk if they draft anywhere other than #1, or possibly #2.

If they draft #3 or #4, I think they take Tkachuk. I don't see him falling to our pick, unless the Leafs draft 1st overall.

Bob why are you feeling the Leafs will want Tkachuk at 3 or 4?

My completely unsupportable preferences for this draft:

1. Matthews
2. Laine
3. Dubois
4. Puljujarvi
5. Tkachuk
6. Chychrun
7. Sergachev
8. Jost
9. Bean
10. Nylander

No disrespect to Nylander as I think he should go higher than 10 but I don't think he's a need for the Jets as we already have similar but potentially better players in the system already.

Note I don't think that's how the top ten will go in the actual draft, just what I like for the Jets. Jost is the "Scheifele" off-the-board, Chevy-style pick.

Dreaming in Techno color

-Jets win lottery 1 st over all
-Ari win 2 nd pick
- Ottawa wins 3 rd lottery

Added bonus to above lottery results we piss every other Canada team off especially Toronto. ( every team drops 3 spots except Montreal )

Jets trade 1 st overall for 2 nd over all with Ari for additional 1 st 18/19 th OA (NYR) and Ari 37 th OA pick.
Arizona would do it as Mathews will make the Coyotees relevant in Phoenix. We do it because Laine is a beast that I personally prefer and 18 th and 37 extra picks would give us depth we need to really cement " the process".

@YOUNGBLOOD: we'd have the 2nd, 18th/19th, 20-24th (if Chicago gets knocked out, and depending on where other teams finish), and the 36th and 37th picks. Just back of the napkin, so don't quote me on this. ;)

Is that worth giving up a potential franchise #1C? Not sure, but that would be quite the reload of 1st and 2nd round picks in one year.

If we win #1 and i'm in NHL 16, i'd trade it for a potential 1c, (Strome, Nylander, etc) and a top 5 pick, or possibly draft Matthews and trade him for Reinhart and Buffalo's pick if there's someone we really like there.

Realistically we just take Matthews and he replaces Little in a bit as we transition Little to the wing.
