Jost looks fantastic. Gives me a Toews sort of impression. Made the right play every time. Wonder what it might take to move up to nab him in the first round.

It's amazing that most lists have McLeod ahead of him.

I agree that Keller probably doesn't supplant Ehlers or Connor in terms of potential and electricity but if all the top forwards are gone, he seems to be a great prospect for the future, I mean between him, Nylander, McLoed or Jost would you take any of the other 3 over him. I have heard Giroux comparisons.

Logan Brown is very interesting indeed, there isn't that much between him and Nylander in primary point production and I certainly wouldn't rage if we drafted him in the top 10 either but I dunno, I feel about him the way you feel about Keller, if we were drafting 14th, that's the guy I'd be drooling over to fall to us.

I would be as happy as I was with Connor falling to us, if Dubois falls to us, I know praising him here is like preaching to the choir but wow those stats make me drool everytime I look at them and the kid is barely 17. I wonder if some teams have him over Pulj @ 3. But I am not going to get my hopes up about him falling.

The difference for me in Keller and Brown is that players like Keller are generally better value because they go later then they should "by the stats" due to things like height etc.

The problem is Keller at 6-7-8 that's not a drop. I guess that's OK but that's nothing to get excited about. Especially because the ultimate upside is giroux, a very good player no doubt, but the potential upside from a guy like brown is just really unknown.

Honestly, I probably take Nylander over Keller, but at that point I'm really not fussed, Nylander Keller, Serg, Juolevi, Brown, there allnon par for me, and I take all of them over jost/McLeod/etc

Edit essentially the maximum upside in Keller is giroux. Now I may be getting way ahead of myself but the ultimate upside of Brown could be a players we've never seem before.

Then again, browns upside could be tom Wilson, and Keller's could be Tim Stapleton.

Essentially Keller's scoring isn't that far ahead of browns (if at all) nor are his tools visually to make up that massive size.

If Keller scored more? Absolutely. But that's not really the case.

Yeah watching both him and Fabbro makes me think they should both be ranked higher. Hopefully the Jets are paying attention and can maybe snag him. Kid is good. Media scouts soured on him for choosing to stay in the BCHL.

I'd be surprised if Jost lasts past 15.

Heard on 1290: More than 300 credentialed scouts and counting at the U18's. Typical NHL team has between 7-14 scouts at the event.

Do you know when addition deadline is? Any notables knocked out last night or today potentially? I know mj is out maybe howden gets invite, he was captain at hlinka.

Have to agree with the thoughts here on Jost. Probably stuck out to me almost every time he was on the ice. His skill with the puck and vision seemed better than everyone else. Mcleod looked like a great skater for sure, but he didn't make the impacts I was seeing from Jost.
Hard to get a great read on one game, but I did like Chych and Fabbro too. Chychrun seems very effortless on the ice, like he seemed to always have another gear. Smooth skater.

I don't think there is any deadline per se. As long as they don't exceed the rister limit they can add at any time (injury replacement not allowed). Canada has only mamed 10F 6D and 2G to the roster. I Think there will be 3F and 1D added. Perhaps another G as well.

After seeing him play and then watching these games lately I may take Jost over a lot of guys. He was in my top 10 but he's climbing now. Tkachuk has also gained new ground. Juolevi dropped.

1. Matthews
2. Laine
3. Pulju
4. Chychrun
5. PLD
6. Jost
7. Sergachev
8. Tkachuk
9. Nylander
10. Keller
12. Fabbro
13. Juolevi

I think Jost could be a good pick in the top 6 even. Pretty high on him now.

Yeah, I really liked Jost's play. I need to see more against better comp but he could be a top 10 pick.

Good to know I am not the only guy that has Fabbro ahead of Juolevi.

Not sure how you can raise Fabbro ahead of Juolevi based on a few U-18 games. Juolevi was an absolute stud in the U-20 WJHC, which is much hard competition.

Juolevi leaves me wanting when I watch him with the Knights. I like but don't love him.

If we somehow get Jost and Dubois i'm actually going to shed tears. Thats like getting Getzlaf and Perry in the same draft.

IMO lamenting a future event and implying that it was an organizational failure when there are so many unknowns is just another opportunity to offer your own biases. In terms of the upcoming draft there are 3 unknowns to any of us.

1) Outcome of the draft lottery.
2) Where the Jets have the top 10 players on their draft board.
3) Which players 5-10 years from now will end up having the best careers.

My bias is I trust an organization with a successful track record a large staff dedicated to it and a budget in the millions to have more information than I do spending some of my free time doing some reading and catching the odd game on TV.

The trouble is that describes at least 25 of the 30 NHL teams and several scouting services and no 2 of them are the same. ..... So now who do you trust?

Lowest mark is a D.
Stuart was the worst at his position and much more was expected than was delivered.
Wheeler was the best of any player at any position.

Of course drafting higher is better. I just think people tend to overreact to moving down a slot or two, especially now that draft lottery probabilities have made draft seeds more fungible. The difference between a fixed 5 and 6 seed is less than a 5 and 6 seed in the current system.

What's absurd is to blame the Jets' management for failing to lose more games down the stretch this season.

Has anyone done that? I've seen lots of angst and whinging and virtual gnashing of teeth over every point but if there was any blaming of management or players I didn't see it. I think they did everything they could have done short of actual deliberately throwing games.

I can't remember years past, but wouldn't it be better if they did the draft lottery right at the end of the regular season? Once teams know where they will draft it gives them more chance plan what they will do (move up or down) and to better scout players that are in their range. Feel like we are stuck in limbo right now.

I feel like the draft lottery was much closer to end of regular season last year than it is this year.
