He's also been pretty meh over the course of an entire OHL season and playoffs on thr highest scoring major junior team in the world. If you've watched the two of them play you should be able to see the difference in talent.

I haven't seen Juolevi in the OHL or Fabbro in the BCJHL. I've seen both in the World Juniors - U-20 and U-18. Juolevi was very impressive, as is Fabbro on the international stage. Apparently, a lot of NHL scouts who focus on the OHL like Juolevi more than Chychrun for some reason.

Jost and Fabbro seem as likely as Matthews and Laine based on where the Jets are likely to pick. They both look like they'll go in the 9-15 range.

There are a lot of nice talents around our Chicago pick, and yes, Boston will potentially pick twice (depending on when SJ/Chi get eliminated) before us.

Some rankings

Jost

Button 13
Pronman 13
McKenzie 13
Hockey Prospects 10
ISS 18
Garret (won't tell us)

Fabbro

Button 12
Pronman 10
McKenzie 17
Hockey Prospects 13
ISS (outside top 30)
Garret (still won't tell)

Seems unlikely either player falls into the 20's

Boston picks 14th and has SJ's pick. If we end up 8th or 9th, trading back for those two picks would be an interesting proposition.

I know jets would have to move up to snag fabbro, but if they pick 8/9 I could see them snagging up jost.

Reading this thread the last few days, you guys are getting me as excited as ever for this draft. We could be coming out looking great after its all said and done.

I don't like this draft nearly as much as last year.....BUT......#1) we can hope for lottery luck #2 either way we pick much higher than last year and I do like the draft in and around our first pick #3) I also like that we have 3 picks in the top 36.

No reason to not feel decent about the draft from the Jets perspective even with the crappy sweep in Cali.

People will be happy with what's left from 25-36, I really like some guys there, I'm almost more excited about that then our first pick. People are under rating some of the quality there, after about 40 tho I see a drop off this year, use lower picks to trade up that second rounder, this is the year to do it.

I don't really get it but I fully admit I may be wrong about Juolevi. I have issues with his quickness and puck retrieval and I am the first person to admit I overvalue those traits in a defender. I do think Juolevi is a bit more creative offensivley although not a world beater.

In a perfect world for me (lottery results aside) Nylander and Juolevi both get picked before our choice. :naughty:

I agree about Nylander and Juolevi.

Thoughts about Sergachyev?

Tufte, Asplund, Hajek, Kunin, Bellows all look very interesting to me.

Claque, Bitten, Johansen

Thompson, Benson, Bastian, Howden, Steel, Laberge, Dineen

Like many that we've all mentioned. That's why Im so intrigued, top 10 may have some surprises but our next two picks could go a million different ways, will be interesting to see how it shakes out.

Watched two U18 games live and two on TV. I've soured on this guy, small sample size but at this point I would prefer someone else.

Agree he hasn't looked good in this tourney so far, small sample as you said. I see him as long term project that needs time to develop. But I rank many of these forwards ahead of where I had Harkins last year for example, which makes me think we can snap up a good one.

The Jets are high on one of Jost or Fabbro

I think Chychrun has been pretty damm good so far for Canada at the u18s. His zone clearances are probably the best on the team. Him and Fabbro have been pretty great combo

All for trading up with the Chicago pick. Wanted to see it last year with #25 too... don't know about you guys, but I'd rather have a potential core player in Boeser, White, Chabot, Konecny, etc. right now than a couple of middle six hopefuls in Roslovic & Harkins.

We've built up our depth, now it's time to address quality.

You have to have a willing partner to trade up or down. By willing partner I mean another team that will give appropriate value back.

Im a big Chych fan, think he's the best of the D's in the draft, but I was left wanting more last night but I guess my expectations of him are quite high. Chych and Fabbro are really good, the rest of the Canada D's are miles behind.

I've been curious about Fabbro. How would he compare as a player to Morrissey?

Interesting. Josh was the first player I thought of when I first saw Fabbro last week. A right handed version. Strength is skating but not totally reliant on it. Technically excellent at everything. Doesn't try to be flashy, usually makes the simple play, uses teammates. I did not see Morrissey play at this age though.

Agree, looks like a stretch for either. Some alternatives I like in that spot (or maybe even in the 30s) are McAvoy/Stanley at D or Brown at C.
