I like Mascherin a lot as a late first / early second round guy, honestly not too sure why he gets as little attention as he does. He's an inch or two smaller sure, but his numbers compare pretty nicely with a guy like Konecny.

Yep, would be ecstatic with him with either of our next two picks.

If he falls that far and we get him I will squeal

If the Jets don't win the lottery I think the best case scenario for us is for Toronto, CBJ and Calgary to win and push out Oilers to 4 and Canucks to 5. Oilers will take Chychrun for sure and Canucks are a wildcard with their drafting, around the trade deadline I was reading in the media that Canucks are really high on Juolevi and Benning was openly thinking about drafting a defenseman. If that happens we will have the choice of Tkachuck or Dubois.

I think Columbus and Calgary are too well managed to let Dubois slip through their fingers if they are at 4 and 5, one of them likely snags him for sure, they would need to be in the top 3 to take the consensus picks, let the Oilers draft for need and pray Canucks pick Juolevi or Tkachuck.

I haven't heard much of Adam Mascherin but he looks like an interesting choice for our 2nd rounder.

June birthday, he's 5'10 and already 205 according to elite prospects.

From the Mayo Clinic BMI calculator:

Your child's BMI is 29.4

What it means: obese
A healthy BMI for a boy this age is between 18.2 and 25.7.

Perhaps he's "big-boned", as Cartman says. :D

I like your list Joe. Interesting you have PoolParty dropping to 5. I would agree with you on pushing Chychrun up. I would probably have Juolvei somewhere 7-10. When all is said and done baring a lottery win I think we end up with one of the defenseman. I'd love to see us land Chychrun.

I wouldn't be shocked if a guy like Puljujarvi slid a bit to number 5. It feels to me there is a tier after the top two and this all depends on how teams lists look. Is that next tier Puljujarvi, PLD, maybe Chychrun, maybe Tkachuk....is it possible Nylander sneaks into this tier???

Hopefully we win one of the 3 lottery spots so I don't have to over think this too much.

I like it too. I'm just not a fan of Pulj from what I've seen. Wouldn't surprise me if Serg was taken ahead of Tkachuk as well. And it wouldn't surprise me to see PLD go #3 either. Or Chychrun #5 after the four forwards.

At the end of the day I have to remind myself that organizations are drafting not TSN, Sports net, HFBoards, or any of the fine groups that follow the prospects. It really does come down to individual organizational priorities and that will cause variance from group think/consensus.

For what it's worth, here is my take from the Canada Slovakia U18 game yesterday. Bear in mind that I typically don't start researching prospects heavily until about now so I don't have the same base of knowledge that some of you do. I hadn't seen any of these players live until yesterday.

I went in focusing on Chychrun, Jost, Fabbro, and McLeod.

Chychrun - For the most part he came as advertised. Admittedly, going in, I wasn't crazy about him with our 1st pick based mostly on my opinion that it's more risky to select a D really early in the first round but was starting to warm up to him as the game went on. Late in the game though, he got caught up ice a few times and also had an awful turnover on the PP that resulted in a Slovakia goal that almost sparked a comeback. Aside from those hiccups, he generally seems like he has the important tools. Good skater in all directions and made some nice stretch passes. Still not sure how I feel about him with our 1st yet.

Jost - Probably the best player on the ice IMO (and ended up with player of the game for Canada, so someone agreed with me :)). Good skater, worked hard in both directions, created on offence. Was an impact player in the game. Not sure yet if I even have a guess for what his ceiling might be.

Fabbro - I wasn't really able to develop any kind of opinion on him. If I wasn't specifically trying to watch for him, I wouldn't have noticed him at all. Didn't do anything to impress. Didn't do anything to stand out in a bad way. Considering I've heard that some feel he might end up being the best D from this draft, I was expecting more.

McLeod - Did. Not. Like. I was actually offended by his lack of effort in the neutral and d zone. Watching him back check was hilarious. No attempt whatsoever to identify his check and cover that player. His speed didn't stand out to me either which I thought was his strength. It's only one game but I was not impressed.

If I had to pick one player that jumped out at me that I wasn't specifically watching for, it would easily be Katchouk (sp?). He was almost up there with Jost. He was a buzz saw, created offensively, and put in effort in all 3 zones. Does anyone know where he is projected to go? I'm travelling with family and haven't had a chance to even google him yet. I'm very curious to learn about him to see if my impression is anywhere close to accurate. :)

Bonus comment - I was surprised how much Stanley tried to rush the puck and do things offensively. I was kind of assuming he'd just play a physical, defensive brand of hockey. He wasn't very good but he's got a long path ahead of him to grow into his body. Could be a decent boom/bust pick late in the draft?

I've got a lot of catching up to do with research and watching that game invigorated me a bit. It was kind of fun watching and not knowing much at all about most of the players. :)

Even if Juolevi isn't a game breaker the way we hope Dubois could be for us, he seems like he would fit in extremely well with this team. We are hurting for another guy who excels in our own end but doesn't suck at moving the puck and beating a clogged up neutral zone.

We wouldn't necessarily be getting the most production vs Sergachyov. But man we'd probably be getting more out of our young forwards and whoever would be playing with Stuart or Chiarot.

Seems like he'd be good enough to jump to the NHL after one more year of junior.

If he or Tkachuk are basically the worst we are looking at if one or two teams jump us in the lottery, it's not the end of the world. We've grabbed first line calibre guys in 4/5 drafts so far.

As soon as you have any sort of muscle mass or height, you can throw the BMI out the window. Blake wheeler is overweight according to the BMI chart.

It would be high comedy if the Jets ended up with Tkachuk and Katchouk...

Even more so if they played on the same line with a three named forward then trade for Mark-Eduardo Vlasic and John-Michael Liles and roll then as a five man unit.......:naughty::amazed:
