I just really want one of these 6 (Matthews, Laine, PoolParty, PLD, Chych, Tkachuk).

I'd love to have Chychrun fall into our laps at 6 or 7 if we're there and other teams take the forwards and possibly a guy like Juolevi.

I do not have a good feeling about Juolevi myself.

Largely agree but if Chevy gets his pick of the big 3 LHD, I'll be fine with whomever they choose.

I'm torn on the big 3 LHD, perhaps it wiser to take two out the next tier with our 2nd and 3rd picks. We will have a shot at Bean, Hajek, Cholowski, Johansen, Clague. There are a ton of good LHD in this draft and I'm not sure there is such huge gap in the top 8 lhd.

maybe we could package our second and chi's first to move down....any opinions what that could get us as a lower pick?

Are you talking about moving up? Moving down with both of those would be unlikely. You could move down with one pick and keep the other one.

Here's one version of a draft value chart. Thise 2 picks cutrently 24+36 = 1280. Somwhere between 10 & 11. You have to have a willing partner though and a plauer you value there.

Last week at this time I felt really good about 4 guys at the top of the draft. Since Sunday I have added two more players to my list that I think could be very important pieces to the Jets and play major roles.

My wish list is now:

Matthews

Laine

PLD Puljujarvi
Tkachuk Chychrun

If we are picking top 7 I imagine we will get one off my wish list assuming TNSE sees things my way.:sarcasm:. On draft night as things unfold every time a name not on my list gets called I will do a Virtanen fist pump.

I am getting less nervous about the downside of not winning a lottery slot.

If both Tkachuk and Chychrun were on the board when we go up to the podium, who would you take?

So would a team take say 5yrs of a teams 2,3,4,5,6,7 round draft picks for the #1 overall? That would be strange.

I do not have a good feeling about Juolevi myself.

I've seen a few reports from interactions with scouts that ranked Juolevi clearly above Chychrun. It seems quite possible that a team will take Juolevi above Chychrun.

In that case, the mix of players likely available when the Jets pick would include:

Tkachuk, Chychrun, PLD, Juolevi, with an outside shot at someone like Pulju. Nylander might also be in the mix.

The Islanders once offered Columbus all their picks that year to move from 5 to 2. Columbus said no. You won't get #1 overall for just draft picks. Most likely have to add at least one proven player.

Personally I take Tkackuk over any D all day long. Safer, and I really think his skill (people can argue all you want if he is over rated etc.... but he has some skill there) coupled with a bit of grit would be great for this team as it is being built now. We have been going a little smaller, high skill recently, a little more sandpaper would be welcome from my point of view

If it was me I would take Chychrun, although I wouldn't be upset with Tkachuk.

There is a lot of differentiation in the rankings for sure. I've looked at probably a half dozen or more from scouting agencies and there really isn't much consensus.

I'm hoping to be pleasantly surprised with a player available when we pick.

Heck, we might still win a lottery pick and then won't have to sweat it. ;)

Jets have a 41% chance of top-3 or #6, so it's not a faint hope that they get one of those picks, which would yield a very good player. #7 might also be fine, depending on what happens in the earlier picks.

Still, more than a 1 in 5 chance of a top-3 pick, which would be ideal.

I would be really comfortable with TNSE's BPA at that point. Our need is probably LHD but my guess is they go for their BPA. Both these players will impact our team so I am good either way which is why I have them on the same tier.

Yeah, when it comes to our high-end skill (top 6) we could probably use a little more toughness/physicality. So I would take Tkachuk and would focus on D at #25-35.

PLD is tough.

I'm starting to lose hope that he's there if we're at 6 to 9 (although I would pray), and I just don't see taking him if we're in the top 3.

If we're at 6 I will definitely have him and Chychrun as my two hopes.

Decent chance that PLD or Chychrun is available at #6. I think that Juolevi is a bit of a wild card. Nylander might be, too.
