Assuming we pick 3 and laine+matthews are gonr, i want:

Dubois
Chychrun
Sergachyov.

With Chicago's pick I dont care as long as its not Jones or Thompson and I will die if we get abramov.

Why in the world would you not want Max Jones? What's not to like?

I still want Puljujarvi at 3 if that's where we end up.

Why would you not want Thompson? Great scoring, great size, I am baffled how he is ranked so low in the 1st round to begin with. I would love him with our Chi pick.

Just got back from the game.

Overall impressions were that it was fun to hang out at that rink and enjoy watching the kids.

First off I thought Canada really struggled with their structure early and Sweden did a very good job of clogging the neutral zone and stopping Canada from getting anything going for the first 30 plus minutes. once Canada got a goal they seemed to gain confidence and turn the tide.

Player reviews

First the bad from the top 30 type prospects.

Logan Stanley: definitely not my cup of tea.

Michael McLeod; Don't walk, run away quickly. Nice skater but just doesn't seem to have much else going for him.

Jost and Bean didn't play which is too bad.

Now the good:

Jacob Chychrun looked very good tonight. I do not see any issues with his IQ I thought he read and reacted well all night. I think he has a decent feel for when to jump in to support the rush. He makes good decisions on how to exit the zone and also good decisions when he carried the puck into the neutral zone and looked for zone entry options. I like how he moves the puck. He is a good but not great offensive player but I do see him producing at the NHL. Mostly I just think he is a sure fire minute munching defender that will play in all situations and be a foundational player for a team. I see him as the 25 point type but a guy that defends like Doughty does. He will be able to tilt the ice against tough match ups at some point. I really like his game.

Dante Fabbri is good at hockey. I absolutely love how he plays defence. He thinks, feels, and reads the game so well. He is one of those silky smooth players that always seemed to look like he is one step ahead. He plays the game in such an effortless fashion and it feels like you could play him 30 minutes a night. Very good puck mover, smart, clean, accurate passer who always seems to make the right choice. He is good in the offensive zone as well. The best I can describe him is he looks like he is relaxed and its easier for him. His ability to keep calm and always use the appropriate pace to conserve reminds me allot of Ryan Suter. I am a very big fan of Fabbro.

Those other guys in Yellow:

The two kids I was most impressed with were

#18 Marcus Davidson very slick centre that had great pace, talent, and IQ>

#19 Timothy Liljergren has incredible talent but what sucked is he picked up a stinger (shoulder injury) which really limited his ice time. From the little I did see I think this kid could be a very very special D man in the NHL.

Thats the report.

Positive report on Chych but 25 point projection? Makes me even less excited to have him be the consolation prize from this season from hell.

I think his upside is higher than that. He has a very hard shot and did a good job of putting himself in good positions to utilize it. He probably took 10 plus shot attempts in the game and hit the net around 3 or 4 times. If he can dial it in I see 10 goal 25 - 30 assist seasons from him. He will pick up a lot of assists through his transition play, especially on a fast and dynamic team like ours.

Let me put it another way, would you like to land a Hampus Lindholm type defender for the Jets?

Well when you say it like that it sounds droolworthy.

Yea that is better then because I came away thinking he could be that type of player. I probably understated his O a bit but I think you are getting my positive vibes now.

Sounds like he would leap over Morrissey on the depth chart if Jets selected him.

Likely a year away though.

I see him being a kid that might need one more year maximum. Very mature physically and a pretty developed game already.

If Jets take him, I can see him go back for one more year of jr, Imo.

Opportunity to play in World Jrs, perhaps in a leadership role.

Nice report PS241. Definitely a red flag on McLeod when he has all the tools he's said to have but put up barely a dribble over a PPG in the OHL.

I'm hoping for a Chychrun or PLD to be available to us if we don't win a lottery spot.

Yea that would make sense. It shouldn't take much more than that though because one of his strengths is he looks NHL ready but it's always good to air on the side of caution easpecially with young D men. One thing I heard a scouting service say was he played about 30 minutes a night in Sarnia carrying a heavy load with a team that hung the D out to dry a bit and combined it with a suboptimal D partner. So he has been battled tested I guess . I sure would love to see him play another few games live.

I've been high on Chych for a long time now. IMO he is exactly what a young dynamic team needs. Offense isn't going to be our problem going forward. A legit top pairing LHD that can eat minutes will be vital.

Last week at this time I felt really good about 4 guys at the top of the draft. Since Sunday I have added two more players to my list that I think could be very important pieces to the Jets and play major roles.

My wish list is now:

Matthews

Laine

PLD Puljujarvi
Tkachuk Chychrun

If we are picking top 7 I imagine we will get one off my wish list assuming TNSE sees things my way.:sarcasm:. On draft night as things unfold every time a name not on my list gets called I will do a Virtanen fist pump.

I am getting less nervous about the downside of not winning a lottery slot.
