Bye bye King and Clifford, replaced by Mersch, Auger, Dowd and make Budaj the backup, saves $800K to $1M, leaving at least $7M, maybe a little more if they swap Scuderi for Forbort.
EDIT: Not expecting any of this to happen, or for them to sign Okposo/Ladd/Eriksson, just showing that it is possible.

have to think he wants a deal similar to what Lucic is chasing. He is the same age as Lucic with less playoff experience and is primarily RW where as Lucic is LW (more preferred IMO).
I don't see how LA is on on Okposo. If they are going to go more than 4 years on him why not go more than 4 on Lucic?
Also we know how Lucic fits with our club. No idea how Okposo does without Tavares
all of what you have said I want to see happen. Maybe keeping one of Clifford or King depending on what an acquiring team offers.
Only thing is I would make the back up role up for grabs.

That's pretty much my thinking. Rosen flat out said, "Yes" though when I asked if the rumor was true about the Kings kicking the tires on Okposo. Of course that could mean a lot of different things though. They might have just inquired and found the price to be too high.

Because international hockey requires a different kind of player than the NHL.
It has always been suggested Okposo, is not built for the big ice type of game.
Not to mention it takes a unique kind of player to play for Torts.

Good point, probably more a Torts thing, given who they left off the team, seems more about a structure than the best possible players.
Also when the Brown rumors of trade were being talked about during the 11-12 season wasn't one of them sending him to the Islanders for Okposo?

Blake Out of Hell III: Back in to Hell
They will talk to all the top-flight wing UFAs as they would not be doing their respective jobs if they did not; however, pretty much no chance of signing any of these guys.
Think overpriced and also coming with a NTC/NMC. Lombardi doesn't hand out the latter and he only overpays existing roster players.
I'm also totally fine with it. Once the Lucic ship sailed, it was time to hunker down and not spend what little assets (player and cap) they have. Lots of uncertainty with expansion and they've got Toffoli/Pearson to sign next summer.
DL went all-in for two seasons and did things he never would of done if not for winning Cups. Now that the bloom is off the rose, he's going back to not mortgaging the future as it is not possible to "fix" the defense next season without weakening another position.
Development season, although you are never completely out of it with 11-8-32. Youth could surprise and lead to moves in-season if warranted but DL is going to need to see it to believe it this time around.
Also, Sutter comes back knowing that they will try to bring Lucic back but knows it is possible he leaves. I'm positive Sutter doesn't come back unless Kopitar gets the "C" and Chris Sutter was a huge reason for him coming back as well. I've read on here that Sutter would not have come back if the Kings aren't going to be "all-in" again but I just don't think that is true: he loves coaching Kopitar/Doughty/Quick and is getting another favorite in Lewis back. I'm sure he also believes that they have a chance to win every night and won't be as down on the roster as HF Kings already is. I just don't think him coming back has any correlation on what the Kings are going to do in FA or that they are going to make some big trade.
I could be wrong though and Dean could surprise: I think he is going to stay pat for the most part.

Glad to see that Crescenzi got a qualifying offer. He's been a solid defensive forward for the Reign and we're not flush with forwards there. Together with Auger and JST and others, they've made a great PK and set a good example of the defensively responsible philosophy of the team. He's been more than I thought we were getting when the Kozun trade was made.

I would agree with this. He's a good size kid that at times has some game. Good defensively.

Devils didnt qualify Beau Bennett very odd move. Kid can play and has lots of skill. I hope Dean pushes hard to sign him. His numbers from every league look pretty good .

Yup very odd move that lots of their fans are dumbfounded about as well. Bennet has performed highly in College , the AHL and his numbers are decent in the NHL. So hes a great player to go after for us .
They also didnt qualify Merril and Smith-Pelly so some quality free agents . Didnt people just want to trade Pearson for Merril ?

I really hope we go after Bennet though. He would fit in great on our team. How would u guys feel about giving B.Richards a look for the 3C position ?
