I keep dreaming. I keep dreaming that Stamkos wants a virtual guarantee Cup situation. I keep dreaming that, in order to do so, he signs a league-minimum, 3-year deal with the Kings. Hey, I can dream, can't I?

I'd order your Kings #91 Stamkos jersey now just to be safe.

Since teams are able to talk to UFA's earlier you think come July 1st they'll just be a crap ton of signings right away?

Which is why I have even less hope for the upcoming season than I did for last year. Offense gets worse with Lucic walking (not that I wanted to sign him for what he was asking), no help whatsoever on D. Yeah, we're pretty much screwed.

Well these are things we don't know for sure. Sake of argument, Lombardi doesn't add anyone else. If Pearson can get to 20+, and Gaborik can get back up to 20+, plus Kopitar, Carter, and Toffoli, that's a start. Doughty, Muzzin, Martinez, they can all be around double digits. King, Brown, 10-15ish. Hopefully Brown could do better. All of that isn't nothing.

We want Lombardi to trade guys so that some of the young guys actually get a chance, and that may happen on defense. No help? You can't say that yet. What if McNabb does get better? Even a little bit? What if Gravel and/or Forbort can play consistently in the NHL? Any and all of those things would be helpful.

Who knows, maybe Dowd really does well. Maybe Mersch really does well. Who saw King and Nolan in 2012? The whole team could fall apart too. Nobody can truly know what will happen as the season unfolds.

Thats fine, the kings are willing to do $6 on a short term contract so Ericsson might be an option 3x6 is probably being dangled as we speak...

Why would Eriksson take a 3 year deal though? He'll easily get a 6x6 from someone like Vancouver.

Aren't there always a lot of signings day 1 of free agency? Seems like 75% of the players sign on the first day.

They usually do, this year with their being more noteworthy FAs (Stamkos, Eriksson, Okposo, Ladd, Lucic, Hamhuis etc) than usual it might carry into the 2nd or 3rd. I believe Parise and Suter waited until the 4th to sign.

How much money does one man need? A cup and winning is sometimes worth more than losing and bit more money

Who knows but how many of these guys in their prime take discounted contracts in free agency? And it's not losing a "bit" more money. $18 million is a lot more than a "bit."

i'm talking years not money going down There would be another contract after this one so you're not talking about losing 18 million it would be more like 3-4 million I don't see a lot of contenders with a lot of space left It all depends if u want to win or not

The risk of injury, and/or declining play are major factors for a player. Players want term because it's a guarantee, something that might not be there in a hypothetical additional contract.

So is the desire to play on a winning team Players pride is also a factor If you can make the same money on a winning team for a few year opposed to a losing team it maybe the determination In this case vancouver canadian crazy media vs southern california where u can go about your day virtually unnoticed Money is not alway the be all and end all of the decision

true i ment shot at the cup Let's face it signing with vancouver no chance of one.

At the same time, you don't get to and succeed in the NHL without having confidence in your own ability. I would guess that the vast majority of players think that any team they're on will be better because they're there.

Plus a guy like Ericsson still has time on his side. Not to make as much money as possible, but to potentially win. Sign one last big contract, maybe don't win the Cup in that time, but if you luck out at the age of 36 and you're still able to compete at an NHL level, then you can hook on with a contender for cheap.

The Kings have fewer playoff wins than the Canucks over the last 2 years. That's why you take the money if they're giving it to you, and worry about whatever comes later after that.

Now you're getting silly one look at both rosters can tell you he would be on a better team in la then van. La is a contender and will be for 3 years Van is going to be a lotto team for 3 years. Yes but there not a ericsson away from being a contender They Kings will be closer with him.

Wow what is it 2 wins to one ? why stop at last two years? why not last 5 I think we know who wins there don't we. All im saying is there is more to picking your team than money
