Kings have $6.2 million in cap space, $4.99 million if they sign Dowd, call up Gravel, and call up Budaj. Doubt they can get Eriksson, Ladd, Lucic, or Okposo for under $5 million. Would have to move salary out.

The source quoted above said as much in subsequent tweets, King would be the logical casualty, as it would create, $1.1 to 1.3M in extra space.

They could be up around $7M if they send out King and Clifford ($3.55M), sign Dowd ($600K), call-up Mersch ($786,666), Budaj ($600K) and Auger ($616,667), net gain of about $950K, leaving them around $7.2M.

Ladd /Ericsson /KO are all pipe dreams they going to want the same type on money and term Lucic wanted

I think zykovs were numbered anyway

True. Brodzinski passed him on the depth chart. I really think Brodzinski might even be able to hang in the NHL. Ladue and Parayko share similar numbers in college and maybe sometines you just have to promote players sooner rather than later and wash them flourish. Brodzinski also has similar numbers to several other key NHL players who graduated up to the NHL. I cant help but think maybe management is going to have Kempe make the jump to the bigs this year on Kopitars wing.

Not much out there for UFA.

Kings will probably start the season with largely very little movement on the roster.

Camp should be fun, Mersch/Dowd/Nolan/Clifford/Andy/Shore/Gravel/Forbort all fighting for spots.

Sutter didn't, it's a shame.

Versteeg's ice time dropped from 16:23 in Carolina to 10:54 in LA. Only a 14 game sample size but that 10:54 of averaged ES ice time was the lowest of his career by far. So Sutter seems to be the only NHL coach that hasn't liked him. But Sutter loves Lewis and King, who never produce. Some players are given the Andy Murray/Derek Armstrong treatment-they can do now wrong based on work ethic no matter the lack of results.

Which is why I have even less hope for the upcoming season than I did for last year. Offense gets worse with Lucic walking (not that I wanted to sign him for what he was asking), no help whatsoever on D. Yeah, we're pretty much screwed.

Im not sure if this was the problem with Versteeg from Sutter view, but it felt like he would always loose the battles in the corners on offense (not a big guy) and puck would go the other way. Saw this a lot in the playoffs. It would totally kill any momentum created by the forecheck.

Maybe I'm mistaken but isn't Gravels cap hit already included in the salary figures?? on cap friendly his 2 way contract is already included...

Ya, Vinny gone too. Kings will be fighting for 3rd place.

I keep dreaming. I keep dreaming that Stamkos wants a virtual guarantee Cup situation. I keep dreaming that, in order to do so, he signs a league-minimum, 3-year deal with the Kings. Hey, I can dream, can't I?
