if van gets 1st and arizone 3rd, it will be overpayment if canucks trade that pick and wont budge for a fair trade.

ie:

domi + strome + 3rd overall for matthews + mccann at most.

canucks future top 6:
laine - strome - boeser
domi - horvat - virtanen

Not very realistic, but good god that would be a nice top 6 to have.

I hope Benning doesn't choose Nylander.

The amount of fighting between the leafs and nuck fans on who's better would be unbearable.

It would dominate the conversation forever.

Tkachuk edges Dubois for me at 4 and 5. Love his game. Guy will be s playoff warrior. Together with bear cheese and rodin tkachuck and virtanen add that muscle to the mix.

I couldn't bear the trade proposals.
As steady stream of Bozak plus a second for Nylander just might push me over the edge.

Every Hockey Night in Canada would talk about it in excess......... EAST vs. WEST

"canucks could have had both"
-
"who's better"
-
"Are the leafs or canucks better at developing players"
-
"Oh he isn't as good as his brother, so he must be a bust"

It would be the biggest distraction

The what have you done for me lately, new shiny today syndrome is strong with this one.

I don't think we can predict who will go where, with much certainty. Outside of the top 3, it could play out quite differently than what we each believe it should be. Even within the top 3, there could be discussion and debate for some teams.

I hope Benning is actually doing something intelligent and throwing others off the scent so to speak. Not revealing their hand.

Who I would pick if I were the Canucks

1- Matthews
2- Laine
3- Puju
4- PLD
5- Tkachuk
6-Open to picking many players here from Chrychrun, Juolevi, Jost, Nylander...Bean? @ WTG :cry::cry:

Apparently Canucks have Juolevi higher than Chychurn.

Jost, Bean, Nylander @ 6

Jost because it's easier for me to watch both Boeser and Jost :naughty:
Bean because he's damn good
Nylander because I want to see a bunch of trade proposals from Toronto and make the canucks fans on the trade forums go nuts

Yeah, same as every year.

People get utterly convinced that the consensus is exactly how things will happen +/- 2 or 3 picks, and are then completely dismayed by what actually happens of draft day.

Someone will go in the top-10 that pretty much nobody had projected there beforehand. Last year it was Timo Meier.

I think if Edmonton drafts 1st overall, they select Laine.

Buffalo and Colorado are possibles to select Laine over Matthews.

Basically everyone else takes Matthews.

"Tyler Bozak for Nylander and 1st?

Bozak great 1C who has been carrying the Leafs for years. Underrated player..."

Probably in the minority but I prefer Jost over Tkachuk if it came down to deciding between those two.

At this point Laine going #1 wouldnt be a surprise for me.

Bigger surprise for me would be someone not picking Puju 3rd overall. I doubt it happens but maybe.

can i ask how you came to that conclusion? i have jost rocketing up my list after the u18's since i haven't seem him play 1 game prior, but for me tkachuk is on another level. Remember that tkachuk had 12 points at the under18's last year and 11points at the WJC this year. feel like tkachuk gets downplayed a lot because of marner like strome last year with mcjesus

tkachuk has been a star player everywhere he has been i wouldnt be passing on him at for any forward besides the big 3 and perhaps PLD depending on ranking (havent seen much of PLD).

In jost i see a strong skater, smart positional player with good puck skills. what i dont see is an elusive player like a tyler johnson or gaudreau in the offensive zone to become that dynamic scorer. He does remind me a lot of pavelski though which is probably why i liked his game so much at the u18s he can really do everything.

not trying to be confrontational but its good to see what other people are noticing in a player so i can look for that as well. :)

Let's be honest, we are no different from leafs fans.

It's just that they are bigger then us.

This is soooo true. I wouldn't be surprised if there's a hidden hockey forum that secretly excludes Leaf and Canuck fans!

that is ****ing moronic. seriously, think about what you are asking for.

a centre who had a 52 point rookie season, a 3rd overall pick who has multiple 110+ point seasons in the OHL, and the 3rd overall pick for Matthews and Jared Mccann.

I'm bored, so I'm trying to predict Jim Benninng's final list based on what is said or made public (assuming is all truthful). A lot of the missing info is a guess on my part.
1) Matthews
2) laine
3) puljarrvvi
4) tkachuk
5) dubois
6) joulevi
7) sargechev
8) bean
9) McLeod
10) nylander
