The biggest hesitation I have about trading Cam is how it affects the atmosphere in the locker room. As a fan I try to look at everything as a business so I try not to get TOO attached to any one player. But I feel like cam is well loved by many in the locker room and I wonder how that could affect things.

Packaging Cam and Hartnell might be a good solution to maximize you're return. If we can turn them into a blue chip prospect and a 1st or 2nd I would be satisfied. I understand were not making the playoffs this year and I'm tempering expectations for next season. But Jarmo has to do what is best for the longevity of this club. And I firmly believe building a solid foundation is the key to that. So if it takes another year of sucking to build a perennial contender, so be it.

I read this as "we need to build a solid foundation, so let's consider trading away most of our mortar for a few more gambling tokens for bricks."

Gee.. I sure hope that's not all we'd get or that you would be satisfied with that...
blue chip prospects don't come cheap. . You know players on the cusp of being NHL regulars.

The team we're trading to takes on all the $$$$, but we assume the risk of the unknown. I know a lot here have spoiled on taking risks, but I haven't. I have no stake, no money invested (outside of a few shirts and hats over the years) so I don't care how they put it together, I want to see a winner. Not just a flash in the pan, but a perennial contender.

Since when is Hartnell considered mortar? He was a replacement for RJ that turned out WAAAAAAY better than anyone here imagined. You don't build on pieces with low shelf life. He's got a year or two MAX before he starts to crumble.

And unless Cam finds his inner MSL, neither is he.

Maybe they shouldnt be traded for futures, but I think Jarmo needs to maximize their value while he still can.

When our GM traveling with lectures around Europe and calling at the night to American colleagues that never sleep, maybe our lone chief Davidson invents something like Hartnell + Wennberg + Atkinson/Rychel for Malkin? :sarcasm: Keep Fedor with Bob to make Geno's acclimatization here more friendly :)

Umberger for Hartnell was never about a mere replacement; it was a simple economic move. Philly wanted out from under two years of a contract and figured that the older Hartnell would break down sooner anyway, and wrongly guessed that Umberger would rebound. Columbus knew they were getting a superior player and were willing to throw in an additional asset and take on an extra two years on an older player.

And who knows when Hartnell will start to crumble. We've been waiting for a decade for Iginla and Jagr to fall apart and it hasn't happened, while we've seen much younger players like Dustin Brown and Mike Richards fall apart a lot sooner.

He's was replacing what RJ was supposed to be doing, which was producing. And he also replaced RJ in the locker room as the vet.

folks, Letestu, MacKenzie, and Wiz are gone....please, let them go! the constant griping about 'woulda, shoulda, coulda' is getting old...concentrate on what's in the cupboard right now and not on what WAS there...rant over, thank you

I have no idea what we get in return but I am confident that Tyutin, Hartnell and Campbell are all gone by the deadline. To be fair, I am more interested in moving their contracts than what we get back as long as it isn't bad contract for bad contract. When I see Red Wings fans tell us they will only take Tyutin if we take a crappy contract d-man in return I am just not sure what they are smoking...if that's the case we might as well keep what we have.

I am sure they are willing to move Bourque but not critical because he is a UFA after this season anyway and Clarkson or Boll but neither is realistically tradeable  I do think they would be willing to move C-Mac but that seems unlikely with his injury too.

I really think team simply wants to dump salary, plan for extending existing players and maybe in the off-season reassess the roster and go hunting for a #1 C.

Wait; we're not trading them again this deadline?

Tyutin, Hartnell, Boll, Campbell, Bourque - If Jarmo can somehow trade 3 of these guys by the deadline, I'll consider it a minor miracle. I'd also throw in Prout or Falk if some team wants to give us a 6th rounder for them. Really, unlike the past deadlines, this needs to be about trimming cap and roster space by moving out the guys who aren't going to be part of the future.

Boll's not going anywhere. Fighting has become so niche in the regular season but nearly non-existent in the post-season. If its at all possible, I think Boll's trade value gets lower as we get closer to the TDL. The good news is he is almost down to the last year of his contract....just one more baby!

This year the stat is .28 fights/game...down from .43 fights/game just two years ago.

Hartnell to Chicago for Bickell and Dano? If we have room when Jones / Jenner extend

I'd consider it if we have the capspace. Bickell only has a year left, so if you're not getting good mid-first rounder offers for Hartnell, it would be great to go back to Dano. We know he can gel with our man Wennberg.

wings fan . wings scouted cbj at the nyi few days back now cbj scouted wings tonite .
after thinking it over the idea came to mind holland might like jj and a player cbj might have interest in is tatar . wings can possibly fill tatars shoes pretty much with pulkinen , plus holland has a state of michigan ties culture going on right now which jj fits into . though more / lesser peices involve as wings are against cap

I don't know much about him but from what I have read of his off ice antics I'm not sure we want him. From his on ice performance I wouldn't mind him. Not giving up Johnson for him. Tyutin deal.

i saw what portzline (sp?) said but in disagreement as wings dont have a shortage of depth dmen . if they go after a d he'll be better , such as jj . and holland likes the regional culture angle nowadays so im betting jj . jj and dekeyser would be a real nice duo

tatars small but put together with ruggedness and hustle to him , and will shoot it from anywhere . had 30 last year and was a monster in ahl . but his short legs limit him to a shooters job as he cant bang net front or be a puck carrier . but i do not want to trade him , hes my favorite wing . im just saying him because wings have the about same type of player in pulkinen whose nhl ready and could step right in . then wevve got another sniper at ahl in mantha who could also replace tatar next year making tatar a movable peice . so the jj 4 tatar idea struck me

if it happens i guarantee you'll like tatar . and i dont watch tv / media so dont know what tatar was doing on twitter or whatever but i know hes a young single guy ands probably doing stupid stuff like we all do and he probably looks looks like a punk but hes a commited athlete , you see him in a tshirt hes real strong and obviously trains hard . plus on ice hes a spirited competitor who wades into the battle and dont back off it

Rumor is that EDM are sellers (obviously). But let's say we don't win the lotto, but still have a top 10 pick. Would anyone be interested in moving our 2016 first + for RNH? Allows us to add another core player to help the team NOW, not hopefully in 2-3 seasons.

I know we've discussed the cap issues, but I believe e could work around it.

I love Nuge but no. People will get mad but I don't think he is a 1C you can win the cup with. Not sure if I consider him 1 1C either
