hard to believe Pirri could only fetch a 6th.

He's soft, doesn't play good defense and his 20-goals season was a fluke. The guy should be really bad if a contender like Florida trades him away at the deadline for nothing.

so did 3 other "respected" ppl

i get it, its easy to hate on Eklund, its low hanging fruit....but he has legit sources with those teams and he was the first to have the Joey trade...

And said Hartnell to Nashville was done.

I think it will be a failure of a deadline if one of Hartnell, Tyutin, or Campbell isn't moved. We need some cap space.

While I think the Jones-Johansen trade was a move in the right direction, it's hard not to feel like this organization needs a jolt of some kind offensively. I would have liked a Fiala type pick up to bring that. Oh well.

As much as we get on the team about offense we're only 10 or less goals from top 10 in the league. The league average is really bunched up. Our issues isn't so much scoring goals as it is keeping it out of our own net. We have to drop like 40 GA to get into the top 10 consideration.

If he helps Dallas win the Cup they'll pay him a lot but probably not 5.5. If they don't like him they give up a 2nd and move on.

Plus two prospects. And they shan't be winning the Cup this year with LA and Chicago in their way. An expensive transaction for probably a second round exit.

An improved blueline would impact both of those.

So you're saying we're committed to...whatever we're doing?

I didn't say anything, in that quote, other than comment on how boring the deadline has been and how it's becoming more and more boring.

Didn't say a thing about our FO or their direction/thoughts. Don't know why you are trying to figure anything else in that quote.

This is very true. Johnson injury is annoying. I'd like us to keep our top 4 healthy for more than 3 games at a time. I expect this to be much better next season with Werenski also in the fold, though, so I don't worry too much atm.

One thing offensively is that Hartnell is slow and I'd like a bit more speed in that top 6 to play with Wenny and Saad. In a perfect world, you're paying Foligno to be that guy, but he seems to be really taking a step back this season. But paying him 5.5 mil to play 3rd line minutes is less than ideal. Of course, we're paying Clarkson 5.25 to play 4th line minutes so why not.

Missed the two prospects. Jokipaka (sp?) seems like he will be good.

I tend to agree that they aren't favorites to win but their offense is explosive. If the goaltending gets hot they could pull an upset or two.

Hartnell is the fastest player in the team.

If someone were to ask you... what is speed? What would you tell them? Is it simply a measure of distance covered over time? Magnitude of velocity? Or is it something more?

The geezer who invented the wheel wanted speed but he didn't trade his most valuable possession for it. Speed is nothing without utilization.

So we're keeping the 25th ranked band together and the cap at the limit heading into the offseason, it seems.
And?

The most valuable commodities at the deadline are rental assets. What we're offering hardly qualifies as such. This isn't an unexpected outcome, nor a particularly undesirable one.
