What a surprise- they go with the veteran backup. Clearly they're trying to protect Korpi and Forsberg from seeming desirable in the expansion draft. :sarcasm:

Also, It's still preseason, so I'm not too worried yet. Although, the Jackets always play down to their competition, so hopefully they'll start playing like an NHL team when they play NHL teams. :dunno:

I don't see any harm in seeing him in real NHL action as the option to send him down is there.

Big thing is - can he help us win (is he one of 12 best forwards) or is this just a reward? Based on pre-season I think it may be more of a reward, rather than the tem intends to play him 9 games. Again just my opinion.

Do you guys see Werenski playing on the 1st PP this year? Who are the point players on the PP?

Well, they're still utilizing the 1-3-1 - I believe the look the other night was Werenski...Atkinson and Bjorkstrand with Gagner/Wennberg centering and Foligno as a net front presence.

I would imagine Jones and JJ could make a 2nd PP pair of a more traditional 2 D high setup. Savard could sneak in there for some time as well and it's not like Murray is a slouch either. Only D I wouldn't expect to see time on the power play is Prout.

If we're not settled on the 4th line, Auston Watson and Linden Vey are both on waivers right now. I don't know that much about either guy, but they're young, were recently highly prized, and would have made other clubs. Watson is huge and I hear he has good shutdown ability.

Portzline on twitter was wondering about Watson. They would be 4th in the picking order.

I don't think it's a reward. I think it's more of a "see what you need to learn?" thing. It's the chance to show him the gaps in his game and develop a plan to work on them in juniors.

Is Gagner really looking like he's going to be playing in a top 6 role? I was sure Wennberg was their guy until camp.

Martin Frk was put on waivers by the Red Wings too. A legit option.
