I wanted us to draft Frk, so was hoping we snagged him from waivers...but understand that we basically didn't ahve the room for him...

Teemu Pulkkinen who shared an organization with Jarmo Kekäläinen from 2010 to 2012 in Jokerit also on waivers.

Teemu Pulkkinen

So if he makes it as far as the 4th spot in waiver priority, do the CBJ claim him?

Jokerit Product, part of the Red Wings deep overseas scouting. Scored 30 goals in the AHL but only around 12 with the Red Wings.

Worth a shot?

Apparently he's not had a very good camp - Wings fans were furious earlier that Frk had been waived before he was. And we're not exactly overflowing with opportunities for wingers.

I'm kind of meh. :dunno:

Slow start sounds reasonable if the Cushat is coming off a shoulder injury which was fixed in June with the hopes of return to action around this month.

It also sounds like he was recovering from shoulder surgery so maybe that played a part of it as well. I really don't know anything about him other than he seemed to have a great scoring touch in the AHL and Jarmo should know what he could possibly bring to the table as a former Jokerit player. If Toronto and Babcock pass on him as well as the CBJ, they must know something about him.

One more cut needed...Prout, Sedlak, or Harrington would require waivers. Nutivaara would not and then obviously PLD would go back to Cape Breton.

I hope we claim Pulkinnen. Right handed shot, scorer, something we need.

Anyway, the roster as it stands now is

Jenner-Dubinsky-Atkinson
Saad-Gagner-Foligno
Hartnell-Wennberg-Bjorkstrand
Calvert-Karlsson-Anderson
Sedlak, Dubois

Werenski-Jones
Murray-Savard
JJ-Nutivaara
Harrington, Goloubef (injured)

Bob
McE

Hopefully they just cut PLD today and get the roster going forward. Once Golo comes back, pick between Nutivaara and Harrington.

However, IF they claim someone (like Pulkinnen) who goes back? Sedlak on waivers? Seems unlikely. My guess would be Anderson.

with Cody hurt (and out to start the year) we're keeping PLD for his 9 games...the roster is at 23 players...if we claim Pulkk...PLD would be sent down early...

Presuming no private issues involving Pulkinnen, I would absolutely put a claim on him.

Where do we play Pulkinnen?

We don't have a scoring line spot open, and he's got to get in game action. I'm not sure, can the Jackets claim him and then use a "conditioning stint" to send him down without waivers?

Prout?

If Dubois is cut and Golo is injured (which I believe means he doesn't count towards the 23 man limit), and Prout included, then we are set.

I know some of us would like to forget Prout signed a 2 year deal but to completely forget him? :D

PLD goes back to Jr. and Campbell on waivers. They keep Harrington and Prout in the press box until Golo returns. Maybe Golo can have a conditioning assignment in the AHL to provide more time to evaluate the bottom D pair....

Shows how bad we are when Gagner has already cracked the top 6...

Also is Murray a slow starter? I remember last season he as our "big addition" and he played between the 2nd/3rd pairing until the Jones trade then started plaing on top line. Just seems odd to throw a rookie out on the first line right out of the chute.

Wennberg's line could be our top scoring line (and Wennberg could be the best center the Jackets have ever had, for all we know). We don't have a top six.

No. Murray is playing great. He will get lots of minutes with Savard.

I'd still prefer Murray with Jones and Werenski with Savard, but whatever. They'll rotate around by the 2nd period of the season.

IMO, as far as roster transformation is concerned, this offseason/training camp went extremely well. Shed so many poor players via buyout/waivers and brought in a bunch of new guys who have looked really, really good.

Yeah, you can go back to the spring when folks were putting up their 2016-17 imaginary rosters, and if anyone left Campbell, Prout, Boll, or Tyutin out of the lineup, they were considered a soft-headed dreamer.

FO / Ownership has left no brook unbridged in building the best team possible.

It's entirely possible I was among those who viewed it as pie-in-the-sky. Glad to have been proven wrong. That said, Prout.
