I wonder if Dean can make a deal with Vegas and let them choose between Dowd and McNabb/Forbort if they also take Gaborik.
One thing I was thinking about today is that Dustin Brown has a limited ntc on his contract, which may allow him to block being drafted by Las Vegas, and force the Kings to make him one of the protected players.
Is that correct or am I reading that wrong?
That's been my assumption all along, but given no one seems to know the true nature of his ntc/nmc, we likely won't know until the draft.

If I were Dean I would probably expose Gaborik but not bribe them to take him. If he looks good by the end of the season they could well take him anyway. Vegas is not Winnipeg or Calgary where you're the only game in town. They will be desperate to find players that can score and entertain. Remember they could end up with a roster of unproven prospects and bottom sixers that put everyone to sleep.
They can sign free agents though 48 hours before anyone else. Who knows, maybe they offer Burns $9 million a season to play for them.

Unlikely they get free agents to sign there. Why would Burns want to play for a team that will suck for years? I also don't believe Vegas will throw offer sheets at RFA's. They probably won't want to piss GM's off coming right out of the gate. They will probably need to trade a lot right after the draft.

Kings should dump Greene, King, Brown and just surround Kopitar, Carter, Pearson and Toffoli will all young players. Same on the backend, which is happening anyways because of injuries and salary camp...Doughty, Muzzin, Martinez, McNabb, Gravel, Forbort and McDermand....forget Gilbert and Greene...
its not offer sheets like other teams The way lebrun made it sound like rfa would be treated like ufas. If they sign one it would count as the teams choice and we would get nothing
Why Gilbert? He has played well. Muzzin/Doughty, Martinez/Gravel, Forbort/Gilbert is how it should be when Gilbert returns from suspension.
Thanks!
This is from the expansion draft wikiepedia page which cites a hocket writers article as it's source.
Teams will be required to protect any contracted players with no move clauses (NMCs) with one of the team's slots for protected players, unless the contract expires on July 1, 2017, in which case the NMC would be considered void for the draft.[8][9] Players whose NMCs have limited no trade clauses must still be protected, and any players with NMCs would be able to waive the clause and become eligible for the expansion draft.[8]
what worries me is they could sign toffoli or pearson.

So per rosen, McNabb is collarbone, and Gaborik, Andreoff, and McNabb are all "December guys." Man, what happened to Andreoff?!?
