Agree with all of this except for Gilbert, he has been very good and has a nice breakout pass. He has been good with Forbort on the bottom pair and that pairing should stay together.

I am aware, but thank you--I'm just wondering aloud if it were ever confirmed what Brown's N _ _ clause is. I seem to recall it's a limited NTC, but I can't find confirmation anywhere.
So option B, 8 skaters and a G seems like the best scenario...

Leaving exposed, McNabb, Greene, Dowd, Lewis, Brown, Gaborik, Mersch, Clifford..as the only big names with my guess being McNabb is gone since I prefer Forbort and Gravel over him ..keep in mind the draft is being set to expose a top4 Dman or top6 winger.....

Brown has been very good for us this year
the $$$ won't go away and it's a problem, but this is where i expected Brown to be at this stage of his career
Removing the C was a good move; i still don't know why the C was such a burden for him the past few seasons or why he needed a push/motivator/wake up call
but i'm content with his play
and Dowd is just amazing, the energy he brings
still hate King, still hate Greene... these will never change
also waive Setoguchi, Purcell, and Shore for they bring literally nothingness*

sign a 3 year ELC, of which this is his 3rd season.... must be protected...
Gravel played his first year under an AHL contract and is in his second year of his ELC if I'm not mistaken

Correct.
Gravel signed an AHL contract first, his current deal is an NHL contract, which he has only served one year of.
The draft is being set up, so that teams have to expose some good young players.
Not just cap dumps, and borderline 4th liners. Vegas is going to get some good young players.
A guy like Dowd, is exactly the type of player, you end up losing.
If I am doing the picking on Vegas's side, I would pluck Dowd/Forbort from the Kings.

given the option between McNabb and Dowd, I think LV picks McNabb...Unless they feel a combo of Forbort/Gravel/Ladue is better than AMart/McNabb? he could be shopped to alleviate the cap crunch and gets us picks ???

An ESPN article over the summer (can't remember who wrote it) said Brown's NTC was all the Canadian teams. Only 7 so one "wild card" team. The question is if Brown can change the parameters of the NTC or not.

It doesn't really matter, Brown doesn't have to be protected. Also Vegas is not going to pick him.
No way the Kings will expose Dowd to save Amart. Kings are stacked at D plus they need the bread to sign other players.
The problem with trying to trade McNabb is he won't return anything. Everyone else has the same problem, they can only save 3 or 4 D.

huh? I understand your point on not exposing Dowd but... You really think the Kings will expose Amart over Forbort? 100% Martinez gets claimed if hes exposed while Forbort might not.
the expansion draft was created so the problem that occurred to the thrashers didn't happen again...so now teams must expose at least one their top 4 Dman and top 6 Forwards...

It could be a possibility due to the cap. I don't like the idea, but we will be losing toffoli or Pearson if we can't shed salary.
Expansion is gonna hurt a lot of teams. It's a gamble on predicting who they will take. There will be a lot of exposed dmen with the rules.
Ducks will lose a good Dman in the draft too.

Martinez has trade value, we're going to give him away for free to shed cap space? It makes no sense especially since his contract is pretty good.
Vegas is going to have a very interesting lineup though, it will have no elite talent but it should be pretty solid all around.

He does have trade value but who would take 4 mill salary with nothing going back? Not many rebuilding teams with cap space will trade for Martinez.
Vegas can take that cap hit. I said I don't like it , but it certainly is an option

We only have 4 forwards worth worrying about in Kopitar, Carter, Toffoli, and Pearson and one decent one in Dowd. Kempe is excempt and the rest of the roster other than Gabby is easily replaced from within. The only hitch is if DL makes a trade
We have a deadly defence returning in DD, Muzz, AMart and Gravel who is excempt.
If they want to pick a Dman they will have to choose between McNabb or Forbort. Remember we have to expose a Dman that plays 40 games this year or 70 in the last 2 and under contract next year so we need McNabb and can't trade him or we are exposing one of our top 3 at this point as Greene would have to play 35 more games this year to qualify without exposing one of our top 3.
Either way we add either Forbert or McNabb to our roster as our 5th no matter what we will have a solid top 5.
My hopes is DL trades for another good forward and we protect that forward and Dowd exposing one of the Dman as we actually have some depth there. DL could also trade for goalie like Halak, extend him and make a deal with Vegas to grab him. There is also the fact Vegas goes for a big name or heavy contract like Brown, Gabby or Greene to meet the cap floor.
No matter what happens, whoever we lose, we should have a replaceable player in our system and our team will be one of the least effected.

Your logic is a bit flawed...
If you expose a Dman, keep in mind he needs to meet the minimum requirements set by the expansion draft rules.. while exposing both Forbort and McNabb seems like a good idea keep in mind big, mobile Dman like Forbort and Gravel are similar to Willie Mitchell in style of defensive play neither of whom Amart/McNabb provide. Also take into account Salary and production and you could easily find a replacement for Amart than defensive stalwarts(potentially) Borts/Gravel....
