This team has never lit things up consistently. On paper they should score more but they don't. And it's got to be an overall mindset. That defense comes first at the expense of everything else.

Honestly my biggest concern at this point is Sutter. When the entire roster is underperforming, that's not a player problem, that's a coaching problem imo.

However, I'm not so sure they are underperforming, they just, as tsanuri says, have a hard time putting it all together consistently. Budaj plays some great games? We have a hard time scoring. Start scoring like the best offense in the league? Have to outscore our problems. Injuries. Slumps. Our best players not being our best players.

This team is a sleeping giant in my view. Just depends on what we look like until Quick gets back, and what Quick looks like at that point. So many question marks. Just don't know if that giant will get a chance to wake up. But this is a darkhorse team.

I think its thanks to Sutter that we are even competitive/in the mix at this stage of the season. Our roster is not deep. Just look at who Kopitar's wingers are. Also, considering the injuries we suffered, under any other coach, we could have been in the bottom of the conference and not within striking distance.

I think our system is what keeps us alive at this point. And I say this as not a Sutter apologist, and someone who was okay with moving away from him last season. Until the Kings get a deeper roster, we should stay pat with Sutter.

I full agree with your last paragraph. I am a big sutter fan but was surprised his contract was renewed. I thought he wanted to retire and would not surprise me if the players would benefit from a fresh voice.
Although if Sutter had left the team or if he does get canned I am sure the next coach would just be a promotion, so not a true new voice.

They play a defense first game, sacrificing offense for it and don't currently have the defense or goaltending to pull it off. Muzzin/Martinez wasn't working, so now you have one of Greene or Gilbert getting 15-17 mins. It's got to be depressing leaning on a D/Goal that isn't always there to support you.

Vote Carter, vote often!

Hey guys, Sharks fan here. Sorry for invading, but someone shared an article on our board I thought you guys might be interested in. Lisa Dillman on how Setoguchi made his way back into the NHL.

Joe Thornton really is a class act. I remember him leading the way for the Sharks to line up and shake hands with Luc Robitaille for the last game of his career. You don't see that often.

Brown said he's good to go tomorrow against NSH. As noted previously, expect McNabb back after the Christmas break. He's close, though.

Was hoping McNabb would get one game in before Christmas to help shake off any rust. Does the AHL take a break or can he be sent down for conditioning?

I think the roster freeze prevents that. I might be mistaken.

Well any problems that this team has really do not land with the goaltending or the defense. Our backup has played very good and our defense for the most part has been good while bringing a couple young guys into the mix (with both looking very good). The thing needed more than anything is still top 6 wingers/some skill to play along Kopi. We would be screwed if Carter wasn't a stud.
