Zatkoff is a little too lumbering. Add that to the guys in front of him not playing well, and it's not going to be good.

Like Budaj though, Zatkoff is what he is. He was drafted 10, almost 11 years ago, he's 29, and now played 41 total NHL games. 43 if you include the playoffs.

Extra forwards appear to be Dowd and Clifford

Seto skated with Brown and Andreoff...

Lines at today's skate: 12-11-22, 70-77-73, 23-15-10, 74-21-71, 13-26. #OTTvsLAK tomorrow afternoon.

I have zero confidence in Zatkoff. Even on his worst days, Budaj is way better than him. Zatkoff looks completely out of place and like a goalie that has never played in a professional game before. We should just ride Budaj for better or worse game in and out.

Dowd has been off his game lately. I don't blame Sutter, although I don't expect much from AA playing center. Might as well slot Lewis in with King and Brown, and move AA or Seto to the top line.

Yotes just got Peter HOlland for a conditional pick in 2018. Which they need, they are a bit threadbare at center.
Wonder if DL had thoughts...

Completely disagree. He looks like a guy who is rusty because he is. Cannot blame him for last night at all.
Budaj was looking run down and I fully supported Zatkoff playing last night. I think that Sutter should just roll with whomever the hot hand is...just need one of them to get warm at the very least.

Doubt it, who would he displace?

At all? really? It's the NHL, you need to make saves, even tough ones, and you have to be prepared to play, especially when you're a backup.

Agree on Budaj and that Zatkoff was the 'right start' probably but that doesn't absolve him of any responsibility, we have close to the worst goaltending in the NHL this season thus far.

I don't know if it's rust. He wasn't good against Philly and Minnesota earlier in the season when he got the starts either. Good against Ottawa, then got hurt, then Budaj gave up that last second dribbler.

Zatkoff isn't great, not horrible either, but the Kings no longer being able to shut down the middle of the ice doesn't help him. Doesn't help any of the goalies. Even Quick can't save every quality shot teams get. And teams seem to get 4, 5, or 6 of those chances per game the last few years, instead of the 2, 3, or 4 they used to get.

Even with dowd off his game he's much better than AA on a good day. If it's a game to let him reset fine, but any longer would be a mistake.

I love Dowd's offense and skill set but he needs work defensively and learning how to grind. You guys are underestimating AA.

Alright.... Who's got some ideas on over the hill Lombardi specials for this TDL?

Iggy out of Col?

I'm thinking Zetterberg out of Det could be one if the wheels fall off. (Is there a Det logo with a flat tire? Just curious)

What other dinosaurs could be targeted?

Iggy

Edit: not because I want him, but because of the connections and he's allegedly available, and is a Lecavalier special--end of career wanting to go out w/some respect I'm sure. But I don't want him. May as well call up Mersch.

Forgot about Mersch. I would love another big guy on the team. It's a pain in the ass for other teams D to handle those guys down low. Just got to get that transition thing down.

Actually, a line of Mersch/Dowd/Iggy might be something special for our 3rd line. I remember last year's Mersch/Vinny/whoever line generating MANY scoring chances.

Mersch finally broke out of his slump 3g in his last 4 games

Amadio is on fire, 5g 6a in his last 12 games

Kempe broke his 9 game skid last night, scored a goal.

Best players on the farm, Mike Amadio, Jonny Brodzinski.

Calling up Brodz came to mind after Toffoli got plastered yesterday, both players can snipe the puck.

GOALS FOR EVERYONE!!! Good to hear some of those guys are getting going. Slumps can be scary for prospects.

only problem with this is brown I think brown and dowd need to stay together Why mess with the chemistry?

We don't know what Voodoo's got Brown playing well again, but we know one thing for sure. Don't **** with it!

I am more and more starting to feel that Carter is a better center than Kopitar. I know hockey experts will disagree, citing the tougher competition Kopitar faces, his possession stats, etc., but every season Carter scores goals on a consistent basis, is faster, and makes whatever winger you put on his line better. Kopitar, on the other hand, requires a good winger to elevate his game--can't say he makes others around him better.

Not saying trade Kopitar or anything crazy like that, but just want to throw some praise at Carter, who many posters are always willing to trade.

I doubt we will see a call up from Ontario this season, unless two players get injured. We have a log jam in forwards, and Sutter is already playing two rookies on defense (Forbort & Gravel) and one rookie center (Dowd).
