I continue to talk to people regarding Shane Doan, and I continue to hear Montréal. There are also several rumblings coming out of Los Angeles, and when people start waking up out there I will touch base... I will hopefully have an update around the time of the podcast on LA.... Who I believe is talking mostly with the Islanders.
so does that not mean there are rumblings we are interested in doan as well ?

I'm not in favor of trading Pearson, considering our offense is pretty barren as is. However, as a UFA, he will likely demand approx. $4MM. With Toffoli likely signing for $6MM, I don't see how we can fit both of them in our cap. This may be an issue to be addressed in the off season, but if a team desperate for offensive, like the Islanders, offer better value now, then anticipated in the off season, it would make sense to make a trade.
We would either put a package together for Harmonic, and have probably one of the deepest defensive lineup in the NHL (Muzzin-Doughty; Martinez-Harmonic; Forbort/McNabb-Greene), or we could trade Pearson for a younger winger with offensive upside, but with lower cap hit, such as a trade to Coyotes for Anthony Duclair.

I just let that Doan thing go. He's getting up there in age and I'm not sure how much he'd help a playoff team. That doesn't even touch on if he'd be ok being traded to the Kings. Maybe if Lombardi thought he could pull another VL, and if Doan still wanted to be close to his family, but I just have a hard time seeing it. He was pretty upset about that playoff loss a few years back.
Plenty of money. Cap will go up, King is UFA, Greene could be bought out or included as a cap dump, Vegas may take someone with more then a $1M contract. Don't think it's time to start panicking yet.
Also don't think NYI would ask for Pearson for Hamonic. Don't they need a RW?

Yeah, I don't think Pearson alone would be enough for Harmonic. Not sure what their needs are on wing, but I know they need help with scoring, which Pearson fits the bill.
I don't see how you could have a Pearson for Hamonic type deal. We don't have the cap space. More likely the Kings would be sending Muzzin back the other way. At least that would help the R/L problems with the current D.

So.... um.... this Doan talk got me thinking.... Kings could use another high end forward for a playoff run. Yeah.... What do people think about Zetterberg?

Trading Zetterberg at 50% retained would cost less then a buyout. (Buyout would be nessasary to lessen the cap it for if Zetterberg retires) Good chance he retires after 17-18 when his real salary would be 3.35M. Can fill in C or LW.
Seems like the contract/player is Dean's wheelhouse.

He's put up 50-60 points the last 2 seasons and has played around 70 games both of those seasons. He'd be a good pick up for a depth top 6 player that can fill in on wing or at center in case of injury.
Don't know how much Detroit would get back. The move would be about rebuilding, after losing Datsyuk. Lombardi got Schenn + VL for Weal +3rd, if I'm remembering right. Also Detroit would be looking to mitigate the recapture penalty in case Zetterberg retires.
Could be a solid pickup on the cheap because everyone is afraid of the contract.

I don't see how Pearson for Hamonic makes any sense at all. The Kings have 5 top 6 wings and one of them is a guy who gets hurt all the time. I get the defense would be vastly improved with Hamonic but you still have to score goals to win. Only thing I can think of is if the Kings threw in one of McNabb/Gravel/Forbort and got a 3rd line scorer from the Islanders. Lee maybe? But then that's way too much salary for the Kings to add.

Another scenario is if Dean doesn't think Quick will be back at all this season and/or holds him out until the playoffs. But then they'd be in cap trouble next season (although can be dealt with in the summer I suppose).
Edit: And if Quick is out all season then I wouldn't even think about buying at the deadline unless they can steal Bishop for cheap. Kings will win nothing with Budaj and Zatkoff in net. If Quick isn't back this season, I'd consider selling.

Quick would need to get back in game shape before the playoffs. It's one thing to have a winger (P.Kane) come off injured reserve in the postseason. It's completely different having Quick play his first game back in the first round.
Don't think holding Quick out till the playoffs is an option. Also agree that if Quick isn't back they aren't buyers.
Can we all agree Zatkoff was a terrible signing. Budaj has outplayed him big time.
Actually all Lombardis signings this summer has been terrible. Latta, Trotman, Purcell and Zatkoff. The only decent signing was Setoguchi and that was at the end of camp and he has been terrible recently.

Setoguchi wasn't even Lombardi that much. Got the tryout through reaching out to Rob Blake, then Gaborik gets hurt and Seto outplays the kids and Latta in training camp to nab Gabby's open spot.

Dean's crummy signings in the off-season look god awful. Montreal taking a chance on Radulov was a huge gamble but has probably been one of the best.

Same thing happened with Versteeg. Signed a tryout with Edmonton during camp, ended up signing with the Flames.

Radulov also signed for $5.75 million which not many teams could afford. And he's a UFA this summer so good luck to Montreal re-signing him.
