Tom Gilbert had surgery on his left knee February 25th and is expected to need six months to recover, has anyone heard about what kind of condition is he?

Matt Greene had shoulder surgery December 1st and is out indefinitely, any news of him?

On placing Rob Scuderi to AHL, Blackhawks had him playind on their AHL team Rockford for 3 games so it would not be first time he would go there if Sutter/Kings go that way.

Scuderi was traded to Chi from Pitts for Trevor Daley then after 2 month he was playing AHL hockey.

Scuderi playd for four teams last year if he is send to AHL i think he will retire.

This is the way to go, retire with dignity knowing you were a big part of 2 Cup runs. I can't believe Chicago made that Daley deal, he was instrumental in Pittsburgh's run. I wish DL would have jumped on that, but something tells me he isn't in the "know" as much as other GM's anymore, or that other GM's are less willing to make a deal with him. But I doubt Chicago wanted to help us out anyway...

Errorhoff for Daley anyone? Chi has nothing left from Patrick Sharp deal.

(Chicago Blackhawks traded Patrick Sharp and Stephen Johns to the Dallas Stars for Trevor Daley and Ryan Garbutt.)

I can't wait to see the weird line configurations come training camp. Expecting to see Kyle Clifford as the #1 LW next to Kopitar since Kings management probably thinks he's the closest thing they have to a Lucic replacement. The fan reaction to that would also be hilarious because you know everyone will be in an uproar over it.

Just imagine training camp opening up with these lines...

Clifford-Kopitar-Purcell
Gaborik-Carter-Toffoli
Pearson-Dowd-Brown
King-Shore-Lewis
Andreoff-Latta-Nolan

There are probably only 3-4 players from that lineup who will be capable of scoring 20+ goals.

Talk about loading up, I sure hope whoever is on D at the time can pass because none of those guys are, nothing but shooters.

I just hope one "rookie" makes it in this team is it too much to ask?

Dowd, Shore, Gravel, Forbort, Mersch well you can add Latta and Trotman there also.

Taken from Jon Rosen review of Gaborik

"The Kings will afford him opportunity to do so; early correspondence has him penciled as the left wing opposite Dustin Brown on Anze Kopitar’s line, though there will be injuries and adjustments, and lines are never static"

I don't see DL moving our 1st this year unless there's something ridiculously good AND long-term out there. AKA most likely not happening.

This is the season where he proves to us what he's learned.

I'm guessing Lombardi is very much in a wait and see mindset with the team now. With Toffoli and Pearson coming up, Brown's contract not going anywhere, Gaborik, there isn't even any room to get another guy long term.

They had the 3 years. The last 2 years have been wasted on many fronts for many reasons. That's 5 years. Then the 2 years before the golden age. That's 7 years total, and now they have a bunch of big, long term contracts. From here on out, it's the core, and whatever cheap yet productive players they can find.

Read some Hawks fans posts, and Daley didn't fit with Quenneville. They don't like Rozsival in the lineup. Coaches can be quite alike I guess.

Vegas still wouldn't take Brown I think, even if he scores decent this season.

All GM's right now realize that Cap flexibility is the most important commodity. Brown's contract is just too long, same with Gaborik.

Vegas will want younger players, that can be signed to reasonable length contracts.

Also Lombardi is going to think he fixed Brown(by stripping the C) if he returns to around 18-20 Goals, 40-50 points.

If Shore/Dowd/Gravel/Forbort break out, and don't get protected(highly likely they don't), those are the type of players Vegas will draft.

So Brown will be given another opportunity to be the black hole of offense on the top line. Great.

He's being paid like a 1st liner. His lack of offensive production is why they had to get Gaborik and Lucic. His production/contract is a primary reason why he's not going anywhere.

Now that the Kings have missed the playoffs and gone out quietly in 5, if Brown is on the top line, is it the end of the world? Basically the worst case scenario has happened to the Kings since winning the Cup in 2014, and that's just on the ice. Off the ice is just icing on that cake. They've got all their picks for the next draft, including the 1st. No reason to think Brown's contract is going somewhere. It'll be complicated enough getting Toffoli and Pearson signed, let alone bring anyone else in.

The reality of Brown's contract is a reality the Kings have to live with. You can't not do the contract, and you can't get rid of it. There's no downside to it anymore. They're not hanging onto the Cup. 1 playoff win in 2 years. If he manages to bounce back, great, that can only help. If not, and they miss the playoffs, we've been through that already, and hopefully they get a nice high pick out of it.

We all said that last year, with them missing the playoff's

Too true. It will come down to guys like Shore, Dowd, Pearson, Gravel, McNabb taking a step forward (some combination, not necessarily all of them) and Gaborik staying healthy. Not so much the top-end guys that we know will produce if healthy.

Some how i think there will only be Gravel or Forbort after the season ends and if McNabb don`t take another step Kings could go 7-3-1 route and actually protect some young forwards. But still have the feeling it is going to be; Kopitar, Carter, Toffoli, Pearson, Doughty, Muzzin, Martinez, McNabb and Quick.

I guess, I just hope they don't blow their load early in the season. I'd rather have them play well down the stretch and into the playoffs where it matters. I'm definitely not getting my hopes up for next year though...

Got to showcase him this year for Vegas.

As far as next year goes... get that first out and start offersheeting D or hold the pick and tank it next year. Brown in the top 6, Purcell probably getting a fair amount of top 6, with the defense the way it is. There's no reason to waste the year fighting for a playoff spot.

Within 5 posts of each other we had a suggestion of Clifford and Brown on the first line (although not together).

I think it's going to be a long year this season.

All it's going to take is one of Kopitar, Doughty, Carter, Quick, Muzzin or Martinez to get injured and the wheels could come off quick, the lack of depth is astounding.

Sounds like a good idea. :sarcasm:
By saying long season you mean we are going for the 3rd cup?

I bet if Toews goes down it has major effect to Blackhaws game also.

I don't think it was a suggestion, as much as it is something that is bound to happen at some point, because well, Sutter.
