I've not seen anywhere saying he's asking for a ton of money. Of course I could have missed it.
He's asking for a trade and to be paid more than the Jets would likely pay him because since he plays the right side he's behind two other players. And won't get the chance to grow and get the big deal because of it.

There was a somewhat dubious leaked story a few months back about him wanting 8 years and 56 million. Since then, Trouba's reps have said it's not the money but the roles that is his concern.

Trouba's definitely a projection, but he has played 22-23 minutes a game all three of his seasons to reasonable success. Different type of player, but a young Ryan Suter didn't really break out offensively until he was 23-24. Perhaps not coincidentally, that was after Kimmo Timonen and Marek Zidlicky were let go.

We'll see if Trouba turns out more like an Erik Johnson or if he can progress to be something like a Shea Weber.

Top 9 wings
1 Gaborik (injured)
2 Toffoli
3 Pearson
4 Brown
5 Purcell
6 Setoguchi (PTO)
7 King
8 Lewis
Kempe on the way eventually.

6 spots to fill, Gaborik is out for a couple months. Is there a trade coming?

you forgot Mersch as well :) I think there is a trade or two coming King and one of nolan latta shore for picks or a upgrade at 3c

Too many forwards ahead of him. Maybe in a year or 2 he'll get a look. I do think he deserves praise for his tremendous improvement since being drafted.

Plus it wouldn't hurt having a 6 foot 7 mammoth that can put the puck in the net on the 4th line.

Any chance justin auger gets a spot on the 4th line?

No spot yet, but trust me, he is making progress all the time. He is doing very well on Ontario, and his game against the Gulls, ah, I mean Ducks the other night, just shows that. I go to several Ontario games, and he definitely stands out.

You figure he'll still be a cheap contract as a RFA after this season, and with King and Purcell as UFA's, maybe losing a forward in the expansion draft, having to sign Toffoli and Pearson, a guy like Auger will be given a long look at this time next year.

I absolutely agree, I've been ridiculously hard on Brown but it does suck to see him not having the C.

His play definitely deserves all the criticism it's gotten, I've been plenty hard on him too. That doesn't change the fact that this is a kid that grew up with this team and captained them to their only two cups in history. It sucks.

Very impressed by LaDue. First time seeing him play, and I get the feeling that he will be our Slava replacement. He reminds me a lot of Doughty. I would love to see him in the opening lineup, but knowing Sutter that will never happen.

And every televised game outside FSW will bring this up, game after game.

One mistake, ala McNabb against McDavid tonight and it's a 10 game scratch.

It's a shame the way it seems it's going to end for Brown as a King. Not that it's going to end soon, since there's no reason to think he won't be in a Kings jersey for at least the next 5 years, and that's just going to prolong the whole process.

You guys think latta makes the team as a center?

I would think so. Especially if Shore is out for any period of time. Decent on faceoffs, right handed, has some edge to his game. A combination the Kings haven't had at the 4th line center spot for a while.

The C? It's depressing watching Brown play.
