we must have watched different games. imo he was trying too hard to finish everything and got caught making the first move often. looked like a liability every time someone skated against him. he looked like a 7th d that's good for the room.

He was pretty bad for a good chunk of last season. Unfortunately, I'm seeing a pattern with him, and he simply has low hockey IQ.
It's a shame given the potential and the tools are there, but he's so completely unaware of what's going on around him. He doesn't make any smart plays, he's just reacts to what happens and is oftentimes a step behind or too late in reacting.
This downward trend was apparent last season and I'm not sure if he'll improve enough to cement himself as a top four dman.
He said he worked on his skating this summer but he moved around like a sloth last night.

He was signed to be a depth dman anyway.
Ontario's blueline is going to be pretty crowded. Some guys will probably have to return to juniors or be assigned to Manchester as a result.
nailed it. hope he gets claimed... but if not at least he'll have real minutes to learn the system in ontario playing games instead of in the dog house.

Also goes to show you how many who critiqued the Kings performance were in the right. Listen to how critical Dean was of his team, that's exactly what many on here were saying about this team heading into the playoffs.
But no, we weren't being realists, we were just being negative.
I'm glad to see and hear that Dean Lombardi was pissed off. He should be, and I hope the rest of the team plays like they are as well.

I love Lombardi. He's right. Blowing a 14-point lead and a 3-goal lead - that tells you how you'really going to do in the playoffs. Where was our clutch reputation now?

Given that the Ontario Reign discussion thread doesn't get much attention, thought I'd share Ontario's training camp roster:

They'll likely be getting more players later this week once the Kings finalize their roster, as I expect LaDue, MacDermid, one of Gravel or Scuderi, and Budaj to be assigned to Ontario after the Frozen Fury games.
There appears to be a crowded blueline in Ontario, which leads me to believe that some guys may either be returned to juniors or be assigned to Manchester.

Doughty, Muzzin, Martinez, McNabb, Forbort, Gilbert and Greene will likely be the 7 defensemen the team will start with. Should they opt to carry 8 defensemen, one of Gravel or Scuderi could stick.
Now, if we were to select a lineup based on performance, Paul LaDue should make the team ahead of McNabb, Forbort, Greene and Scuderi. After Martinez, he really has been the best performing defenseman at camp and in preseason games.

Ah yes. He's been a pleasant surprise at camp as well.
So I guess both Scuderi and Gravel could be reassigned. Seems counterproductive for the team to carry 8 defensemen on the roster.
