Even though we need a second pairing defenseman and third line center, we do have a very talented and skilled team. The team's skill and speed was in full display during the 3-on-3 OT games.

I would be very interested to see if we could get more out of Kopitar, Carter, Toffoli, Pearson, Doughty, Gaborik etc if we had a different coach that played a different system. Player-by-player, we match up well with the top teams in the league. Sutter's system, however, prevents these players from fully utilizing their offensive abilities. Of course, Sutter's system also keeps us defensively responsible, but I would be curious to see how we would play under a Blackhawks system, for example.

Muzzin-Doughty
Martinez-Gilbert
Scuderi-Greene
McNabb

Let McNabb play 17games.
Lose: Forbort, Trotman at waiver and trade Gravel at deadline for some old forward.

I`m hopping on the negative train.

I was going to joke about your suggestion of Scuderi and Greene being a third pairing, until I read this, http://lakingsinsider.com/2016/09/22/on-the-eve-of-camp/

About a month ago, I got the sense that were there to be equal performances from all defensemen, Scuderi and Greene were a slightly preferred third pair, with Gilbert serving as a seventh defenseman. But, obviously, training camp doesn’t elicit equal performances, and injuries happen.

Keep in mind that Greene played three games last year, Scuderi, like Greene, offers a valuable presence but isn’t fleet-of-skate, and Gilbert is coming off knee surgery; the trio will face stiff competition from less-tenured players including Kevin Gravel, Derek Forbort and Zach Trotman.

Gravel appeared to have a tiny bit of a lead amongst the younger guys, based on off-season correspondence, but also is eligible to be returned to AHL-Ontario without having to clear waivers. Ultimately, those who perform well in training camp and the preseason will earn a spot on the team. Expect all to get into a bunch of games this preseason.

As soon as a month ago, the preferred third pairing that the team wants to ice is Rob Scuderi and Matt Greene.

Guys what do you make of Toffoli this year. I've always been a fan, does he take that next step to being the teams top scoring threat? Can he crack 60?

Because you are here to ask about fantasy league question i must say he is not going to play at all mayby some odd 4th line minutes.

He could score 50 goals or regress back to 10-15. With how unpredictable the Kings offense is I wouldn't be surprised with either result really

brown - (kopitar - gaborik)

king - (carter - toffoli)

(pearson - dowd) - purcell

clifford - (shore - lewis)

latta/nolan/andreoff as extra in camp fight.

muzzin - doughty

mcnabb - gilbert

martinez - greene

forbort & scuderi extras.

gravel and mersch probably start in ontario due to waiver exempt status til moves are made by game 20. I also think the kings carry an extra dman instead of forward due to who would be claimed via waivers. (andreoff/nolan vs. forbort)

You're not saying part of the quote. Important parts of the quote too.

That sounds different from what you said. If Gravel, Forbort, Trotman, whoever, can't be better than Scuderi and Greene, then none of it really matters anyway. If they're clearly better than Scuderi and Greene, and don't make the team, then you can make the calls for help.

Man, young guys have to prove it over veterans. Yeah, Lombardi and Sutter are the only people in hockey, in sports, in life, that think that way. Especially when contracts, cap hits, waiver eligibility, and whatever other variables have to be taken into account.

I really believe this is going to be it for DL and DS after this season if they crap out again. The Kings ownership and upper management needs to only look about 45 minutes down I-5 and see what has become of the Angels. I know, you can say different sport, but the Angels gutted their farm system chasing another championship and stuck with a manager who was well beyond the times and look at what they have become.

Hope after what we have heard from Jon Rosen i really hope we go 8 D-man way.
Maybe something like this.
Lines are what Sutter picks from hat just before the game.

Gaborik-Kopitar-Brown
Pearson-Carter-Toffoli
King-Shore-Purcell
Clifford-Dowd-Lewis
Andreoff

Nolan or Latta to AHL (8D-men)
Mersch AHL for now

1Doughty
2Muzzin
3Martinez
4McNabb

5Gilbert
6Greene
7Forbort
8Trotman

Scuderi AHL
Gravel AHL for now

Brown on the top line, 0 offensive abilities in bottom six forward group, scuderi-greene pairing... Yeah, I'm gonna make sure to have the Benny Hill theme song ready...

Inspirational video, seems appropriate for the intense competition of training camp. The beginning features the Kings:

Hoping to get reports from people going to practices today or the game tomorrow.

Voynov has 14 pts in 12 games in the KHL. God i wish he wasnt such an idiot . He would be entering his prime right now and probably blow up the NHL and be considered a top 15 dman in the league .

Doughty
Voynov
Muzzin

Would be the best top 3 . I hope he returns to the Kings and is welcomed with open arms . If his wife is still with him which she is i dont see why he shouldnt be in the NHL

Martinez-Voynov

Would be equal, if not better than Nashville's top 4.
