I wonder if Blake's old defense partner had any input on him.
He self identifies as a TV on their wall.
You should have kept reading as another poster also commented they had a child of their own after all of this. A Russian interview is where I read about them being still together and that it was blown out of proportion
In theory, would you do:
Seabrook ($6.875m until 2024)
Kruger ($3.083m until 2019)
for
Brown ($5.875m until 2022)
Gaborik ($4.875m until 2021)

Hearing Kings closing in on college dman Neal Pionk. Played in USHL, then past 2yrs at Univ of Minnesota-Duluth (2017 NCAA championship r/u)
Then the joke wouldn't have worked.
I would pass on that deal. Seabrook's term is insane and one million higher than Brown's. Also, Kruger is not an upgrade over Gaborik, although his term is shorter and one million less.
I would prefer to just buy out Gaborik and keep Brown, who I think is still a very effective 40 point forward that always has high hits.
Kruger ends 2 years before Gaborik. Seabrook ends 2 years after Brown. The cap space basically matches up. Neither team is getting rid of the bad contracts, so just a change of scenery thought experiment. Wasn't thinking about Kruger being an upgrade on Gaborik. It was more about Kruger's deal ending when Doughty's does, which would open up $3m to re-sign Doughty. Instead of buying Gaborik out, and then having $3m in dead cap space when Doughty's contract ends.
Seabrook has a NMC, and Blake probably doesn't trade Brown right off the bat, which means it most likely remains a meaningless idea.
Didn't Blake say he isn't trading Brown during the presser?
All the college defenseman belongs to us.
Sounds like another solid free add.

I wouldn't protect Forbort. I'd deal him right now

What? Why not protect Forbort over Dowd, et al? Forbort is 2 years younger than
Dowd and is worthy of being protected. Trade him now? You could not win that trade. Forbort is a late bloomer and getting better, yet not worthy of another team overpaying for him.
It makes more sense to trade Muzzin or Martinez, both with reasonable 4 million cap hits for their value as players, each proven defensemen and each with 2 Cup rings. You have a very good chance to win in a deal dealing either of them. I don't see how you win in a deal, trading Forbort.

Stuff like this is where I question his hockey knowledge. He's obviously connected but why in God's name would your trade Forbort when a guy like Muzzin or Martinez would fetch a better return and you'd cut salary.
Yeah. I believe he has connections, but I don't trust his analysis.
I don't need to jerk a knee to recognize that Muzzin or Martinez will return a better forward piece than Forbort.
Kovalchuk?
