I hate this ****ing team. Can't go and/or watch Saturday's game but am going tonight and was stoked to see Brodz.

Won't play tonight so they can "get him acclimated".

This team is a nut punch around every corner. Can't even do a call up right. Plenty of acclimated stiffs in the lineup that can sit for him. As a matter of fact, please don't get him acclimated to this **** style of hockey.

Healthy scratch candidates-Lewis no points in 7, Clifford no points in 23 games, Dowd 1 goal in his last 35 games, Andreoff no points in 15 games, Gaborik no points in 5 games, Pearson no goals in 8 games. Instead Sutter strikes again, another move that signals this man wants to return to the farm he just doesn't have the guts to retire early.

Pearson? Really?

Buffalo Sabres are in need of some defense, top pairing or 2nd pairing. Might the Sabres make a good trading partner for a guy like Muzzin? They have some attractive forwards, in particular a glut of top center men.

Muzzin for Kane?
Muzzin+ for Okposo?
Muzzin++ for Reinhart even?

I want Kane to pair with Kopi and i'd still expect Kane +..kane is a UFA vs Muzzin 3x4, Buffalo would have to add more.. we might even be able to trade Bishops right

There are only so many wingers you can pay at one time. Maybe 1 year of Kane doesn't seem like enough for Muzzin. The you have to sign Kane, and that's another big money winger. Okposo is at $6m until 2023. He can score, but he's also going to be 29 soon. Doubt the Sabres are going to trade a good young forward for not-Doughty, even if you add more to it. Unless you're adding Kempe and a 1st round pick or whatever. Muzzin isn't old, but he's not young, and is he that much of a difference maker? He can be at times.

There's a cap. Reinhart might not cost the Sabres as much on the cap as Muzzin for another 4 years. Maybe 5 years, who knows.

Not really sure of Amart's trade value but would the following fly???

Alec Martinez- 4x4 left
Nic Dowd-RFA
for
Mike McCarron
2-2nd rounders(MTL has 3-2nd's in a weak draft)

and then possibly do

Jake Muzzin- 3x4
Kyle Clifford-
for
Evander Kane
2nd rounder

then sign Karl Alzner a defensive Dman ??? or maybe a 3rd trade for a Dman with all the new assets, think a top 15 pick plus we'd have 4-2nd rounders.. I'm sure DL could make something happen with that...

*Logs on the lakingsinsider.com, gets excited that Brodzinsky is recalled, then notices that Brodzinsky wont play today, hits delete for Kings game today on DVR*

Based on his play this year, Muzzin has close to zero trade value.

That is a pretty extreme statement. Although his value is not at its highest, I guarantee that Muzzin holds a lot of value. Are you seriously suggesting he is a cap dump at this point? lol

I'm not sure I understand why they had to wait until today to call him up. As Rosen noted almost a month ago, they've been considering bringing him up for awhile. Why not bring him up Tuesday, or even yesterday morning, so he can get a full practice in with the team? Doesn't make a lot of sense.

It stems back to what I said weeks ago when people focus on just goals scored when evaluating a player.

I know what your overall stance is, but others aren't very reasonable.

He's got 1 assist and is a -4 in those 8 games without a goal. You tell us what Pearson is doing well in the top 6 where he shouldn't be held accountable for lack of production. Well, we're waiting!

Who has produced to your level of expectation? Or do you just want to bench the entire team?

So Pearson should not be benched because nobody is playing good, that's your argument? Well, that's false. Give me something that backs up your original statement that Person does other things in the last 8 games besides scoring goals? Take 2 and action.

Even still, Pearson is the only goal scorer with a pulse all season after Carter. Makes zero sense even if you're only focusing on goals. He's second on the flipping team...

In the last 8 games:
Kills penalties (4th most forward SH/Gm)
Tied for 5th on the team in hits.
Second on team in shots/game.
Second on team in shot attempt % (Corsi - just going off the nhl.com site).
Leads the team in shot attempts.

So he plays physical, plays with energy, and plays both ends of the ice.

Now since you feel Pearson deserves to be bench, how about you list the 12 forwards who are playing better than him? Give us something to back up your statement.

Go ahead, we'll wait.

If it came down to picking between Pearson and Toffoli, I keep Pearson. Toffoli seems so limited when he's not producing goals, and I also worry that a potential offer sheet can really screw the Kings.

Yeah, I've always thought Toffoli was practically invisible when he isn't scoring goals.

Sadly, I have to agree. Toffoli isn't physical, he isn't especially strong on the puck, and he's developing a bad case of Brown-fall-down-itis.

But he has pretty good defensive instincts and a natural scoring touch, even if he peaks as a second-line scoring winger. I think we get caught up hoping every player will be a superstar, rather than accepting what they actually bring to the table.

With that said, I would protect the following players in the expansion draft:

Kopitar
Carter
Pearson
Toffoli
Doughty
Muzzin
Martinez
Forbort
Quick

Letting Forbort, Muzzin, or Martinez slip away would be a huge mistake in terms of trade value (especially in the case of Muzzin or Martinez). I would risk losing Dowd or Lewis to keep Forbort. Ideally, we could package Gaborik with Muzzin and get rid of one of our two anchor contracts.

Just some thoughts.

I already listed the players who have been in long offensive slumps. In typical King fan fashion you picked the one name of a player in the top 6 and focused on that, completely ignored the other names of players Brodzinski could have been injected into the lineup for. But as we all know that long 45 minute drive from Ontario takes a lot of acclimating according to the head coach. And at no point in time did I ever make the assertion that there are 12 forwards who are playing better than Pearson.

So do you still think Pearson is a healthy scratch candidate even if he didn't score the shorthanded goal last night? Or did you already forget you called him that?

Typical King fan fashion. Lol. I'm not the one saying a player should be scratched for lack of goal scoring and condescendingly ask someone what he's brought during his goal scoring slump.

  This dude claims that McNabb is a #2 and Forbort is a 5/6 at best.

He does make some sense. Doughty is an amazing player and he elevates his partner. I think Forbort won't look as good as he has if paired with LaDue. I'm not saying he'd look bad, just not as steady as he has looked. Just like we've been saying how crappy McNabb and Muzzin have looked when not paired with DD. DD just makes his partners better, or at least perceived to look better.
