Petan another year in the A (he's going to love that). First call-up. Unless it's a 4th line role, then maybe Lemieux or Lipon.

We ditch Pavs and Stu in the off-season, and sweeten the offer as necessary to do so. Maybe Toronto or other rebuilding teams will answer the call if we include the right prospects or picks in the deal.

Unless Petan is given a chance & shines in TC, he could indeed be slated to start the year with the Moose. That's fine, all I ask is he be given a fighting chance to display his skills in TC.

I see Petan as a key cog on the second PP. Another skill that he has that could make him important is his ability to win faceoffs -- I believe he had the highest faceoff winning percentage of any Jet last year - albeit a small sample size. On a team that is forever losing faceoffs on the PK, PP & other important situations (ie, last 30 secs of a period), they need faceoff specialists.

So I'm pulling hard for him to be given a real decent shot at a spot this year & I bet he shines.

That is too small a sample size to indicate anything at all, 21 FOs altogether. Thor had almost as high a % and he had 122 FOs. I conclude Thor is really our best FO man.

I hope he is given a better shot this year and I'm pretty sure he will be. Even a 4th line of Petan - Copp - Armia would amount to a better shot than he was given last year. He may also be in the running for 3C.

I think Ladd and Stafford are going to look like they are skating in molasses compared to the rest of the team. I know that they are both good players, but I don't see them meshing with the way the team is being built. I would prefer not to bring Ladd back and trade Stafford.

Yea, didn't realize it was that small a sample & yes did note that Thor was up there .

I believe Petan also had a reputation in junior of being a faceoff specialist but maybe I'm mis-rememoring that. Pretty hard to find those sort of stats for the dub & not even sure if the AHL has those stats recorded.

Petan might turn out to be a good faceoff guy, but even the face-off "aces" usually have trouble when they first enter the league. Scheif was voted "best centre" in the faceoff dot in the OHL in his last year, for instance...

I'm interested in using Petan with Scheifele and Wheeler on the top line and letting Ehlers go back to RW and play with Little and Connor.

Give little softer minutes and let PSW and Burmi/MP/Dano take some toughs.

4line of Lowry/Copp/Arma should fare well too.

Have to jettison Stafford into space for that to work though

I remember the same but apparently junior FO numbers don't carry over to the NHL very well. It takes a few years for a player to become consistently good at FOs in the NHL, even players who have always been good there in the past. Copp was at 46.1%, pretty good for a rookie I think. If he had won 1 more FO every 4 games, .25 FOs/gm he would have been at 50%. It is a pretty fine line.

If the Jets get either Finn, I like that lineup. I might switch Laine/Pulju with Armia. I think a line with Armia and Little can probably defend good lines better. The 3rd line would have a lot of scoring punch and play less tough match-ups.

I have a hard time believing that everything we did at the end of the season had no meaning. We found a top line after Ladd was traded. It is probably the best skating and most talented line we have put together.

I like that Petan and Perrault are essentially interchangeable. Little will surely get more defensive responsibility with Scheif's offensive emergence, something he is quite capable and adept at. I liked the chemistry that Perrault and Armia had in their brief stint. I would be comfortable playing that line against other team's best.

That would push Petan back to the 3rd. I think he did quite well as a centre for the Moose. I honestly think that being a 3C would be ideal for him. Easier matchup. I think his vision would make him a better centre than winger, and personally i prefer Perrault's tenacity on the forecheck.

Connor should compete with Dano for the 3rd line winger. Stafford is the vet that can calm them on the ice, and help them find space on the ice with his size. I definitely don't want to trade him. I think he is almost as sure as there is of a lock to be the 2nd unit PP net front presence. I also don't see his and Ladd's combined 40 goals or .5 per game being replaced internally. That's a huge leap of faith in our young talent, which will surely go through growing pains. I like the fact that he could be interchanged with Ehlers if Maurice wants to have more size on his 1st line. That would make our 3rd pretty dangerous conversely.

I like Lowry-Copp-Thor as a 4th. They will be pretty physical and defensively responsible.

I could easily see a scenario too where Perrault gets hurt, Petan moves up a line, Copp centres the 3rd, and Lemieux moves onto the 4th with Lowry at centre. Lipon could push Thor to the PB too.

All of 4th liners kill penalties which makes the team stronger and less physically taxed even strength.

Burmi is the hardest one i have integrating into the lineup. His 40% faceoff efficiency makes him an unreliable centre, it is the primary reason he was moved from being the 3C out of TC, with Lowry replacing him. I don't particularly like him as a winger though, he is not a great forechecker and it impedes his most beneficial skill, his passing. I found that he struggled with several players, noticeably Petan, for one. Several fans have criticized him for killing the cycle game. I know his penchant for bad penalties will definitely not endear him to our coaching staff. He will be on a short leash if he does come back next season. Maybe we go with Dano-Burmi-Stafford as our 3rd to start the season. With alot of o-zone and neutral zone starts. Connor-Petan-Kosmachuk would be a great top line for the Moose. Able to fill in as a line with injury, or poor performance.

Having quality prospects on ELC's will be one of our strength's next season. If there is one player i really want to integrate into the lineup though it is Darren Helm. I think we could get him at roughly half of Ladd's desired salary with less term, and get more than half of Ladd's production in turn, while getting a better PKer, and a much needed faceoff ace on the left side. I am all for a change/transition in leadership, but i also think with Frolik's and Ladd's departure, this team would benefit greatly from the experience of a Cup winner. Young players still need vets to help them grow, and having a local champion on the team would be good for the team. It would also be a ringing endorsement of our organization to attract winners, meaning that our potential is recognized by players around the league.

There's a simple solution to get Armia into the lineup.

Trade Stafford because we don't need him anymore :naughty:

He will play his 60 games, take away about an avg of 6 games for each players in

the group except Wheeler.

I also think Petan will be magic centering the 2 rookies.
Big difference than Copp and Thorburn.

I'm less opposed to trading Stafford than I was an hour ago. Still don't like the idea of thinning our scoring depth BEFORE the expansion draft which will thin our scoring depth further.

Bye-bye Stafford and Burmi at the draft for some help on D. Probably prefer Burmi to Lowry but the coach and management love them some Lowry.

Just beyond pumped right now. I was so close to tearing down the street nude while screaming at the top of my lungs.
