Haha best goal calls ever.

Fontaine has nice offensive skills. Could improve his wheels some, like it's not a flaw but he isn't McDavid II either. Would be cool if a kid like this could come from behind. But for a skill guy like him, it does seem like he has quite a long way to go look at his production in the Q.

He's pretty fast, Ola. I don't think it's an area that needs improvement.

I like his 6'2" 195 lb frame, and like his ruggedness in the crease. He's not shy and is willing to go to dirty areas. From what I've read, he's very intelligent hockey-wise and is exceptional defensively. Tough to judge a guy like this, as we're all so used to looking at stat lines in the CHL. Typically, if a player is not well over PPG (esp. in the Q), we have a bleak outlook on them. But could Fontaine...being big, fast, and smart defensively...be the exception? Could he be a guy that although he doesn't have flashy numbers, translate well to the NHL in a bottom 6 and PK role? Maybe he could be a bigger, faster, more intelligent, more physical Dom Moore for us. I think that's what we have to hope for from a 6th rounder with his particular skill set. I think...for a 6th rounder...that this guy was a pretty good pick. I think he might have the mentality and required skills to be a good 4th line Center.

I think Gorton did very well in the 2016 draft (given the circumstances) which was the first one with him 100% in charge. The pick i liked the least on draft day was the Fontaine pick but as i've watched him this season i really like that pick aswell. I really liked the Reunanen pick on draft day, looks worse now but still too early to write him off, feels like he does need to earn a roster spot in Liiga next season though.

Agreed with this. Well said!!

Fontaine was the first star as Rouyn-Noranda won their series. He was 1+2 tonight and 3+4 in the 6 game series. He also had 2 OT winners.

That's the type of **** that gets you an ELC!!

Don't think he's Dom Moore. Think he's more Riley Nash. But nonetheless, he's been criminally underrated this year.

I don't mind the Dom Moore comparison too much, there are some differences but they are similar in several aspects aswell. Mainly their skating, puck handling and overall positional IQ. I like the Riley Nash comparison aswell.

Yeah, other than FO ability...not a good comparison on my part.

Your Riley Nash comparison is excellent.

I mean a comparison via stylistically. I can see Dom Moore, I can also see Ryan Carter. Point is both of those players, and Riley Nash, are pretty good bottom 6ers which is what I feel Fontaine can become.

Also if Morrison doesn't get an ELC, do y'all think he can get an ATO in a similar fashion to that of Nejezchleb?

Or does he re-enter the draft?

Technically, we all probably don't know what's going on behind the scenes with Morrison and NYR, but interested to hear some opinions. :)

I'm not sure, i wouldn't be against Hartford signing Morrison on a 'prove it' contract if he's up for it, kind of like Joly just that we actually drafted Morrison.

Hartford might sign him to an AHL deal, as they did with Nej.

Yeah he looks a bit interesting. Will be interesting to follow him.

The Rangers only had one season to evaluate Nejezchleb before giving him the AHL deal. They've watched two full years of Morrison. I would imagine that if they don't want to give him an ELC that they'll just let him walk entirely. He can definitely get an AHL deal from some team; I would think he'd want to test the market and see if someone will give him an ELC like we did after Toronto didn't sign Josh Nichols.

Windsor is hosting the Memorial Cup so it gets into the final no matter how it does in the playoffs. More action for Day latter this spring.

Unfortunately, it's looking like it'll be his last game of the season.

I know he's no longer ours, but Saarela just scored the go ahead goal in a game for the Checkers and has points in his first 5 games with them.
So glad I got to see E STaal in blue.... :(
