Oh, I remember how he must still be hurt every single shift he takes. You can't miss it.

Not true, Kopitar just gets like 20 bad bounces every game, or his wingers aren't good enough, etc.

You can't attribute anything regarding his production to his actual play. I mean come on he was a PPG player for around 6 or 7 games about 3 weeks ago.

honest question, do you legitimately enjoy watching the Kings play hockey? you spend an inordinate amount of time *****ing about Kopitar and thats even after being gone for 8+ months

welcome back, I see you havent lost a step :)

Congrats to LaDue for his first point. He even got the "assist of the game!"

I'd bring back Voynov in a heartbeat, if it were a viable (legal) option, of course. Put him on the third pairing until he finds his stride.

He beat the **** out of his wife, was arrested, tried in court, got deported, and has been a cluster **** in Russia. He's paid his (La)due :)

Seriously, tho, I'd bring him back. He did his time. Don't know how much legal maneuvering it would take. This is hockey baby, and America is the land of second chances.

All you "get off muh lawn" folks need to slow down a tad, imo

There is no scenario where I could see voynov welcomed back by the team nor the fans. I understand the different cultural beliefs but it would be a huge blow on the kings image if they even tried to bring him back. Personally unless it can be guaranteed that he has changed there is/has been nothing reported that he got the help he obviously needs.

Umm, there's a couple in this thread in the last 24 hours that would accept him. Fans are finicky, sure you'll have some people that'll cry, but it will go the way of the buffalo if he produces.

As for your "cultural beliefs" statement -- you don't hit a woman. Period. From whatever culture you belong to/come from.

But when you do, and you pay your debt to society, you should be given a second chance.

Voynov coming back would be intriguing and the few that would express their "outrage" is just status quo for over-sensitive hockey fans. The team would get over it. With that caveat that he produces.

He isn't Greg Hardy, for crying out loud.

Let's not do the Voynov talk. That ship has sailed. Until there's news one way or another, no point in bickering over personal viewpoints that won't change, we did that for an entire year.

Also back to remind you disagree with the post, not the poster. Gonna have to boot people from the thread if we can't disagree civilly.

I'd welcome VV back with open arms. he did more time and has faced greater consequences than some attempted murderers and violent rapists in the last 3 years. his situation was grossly exaggerated due to Ray Rice's and he was made example of due to it. if he truly sought counselling and went through the processes asked of him than why deny him a second chance to be an ambassador against domestic violence.

If this didn't happen in CA it probably wouldn't have made the news since someone always takes the ride in a DV case and it's almost always the man... even if he's the victim. plus the charges came from the state and not from the victim.

I have to admit there have been many games I couldn't bare watching this season after about 30 minutes into the game, because if Carter wasn't on his game I knew it was going to be a long night.

You spend an inordinate amount of time worrying about what others think of Kopitar's performance.

Has Voynov even been a good player in Russia? I seem to recall he was a disappointment over there. Perhaps that was just initially and he's been stellar lately?

I would welcome Voynov back only as a tradable asset. Never want to see him in a kings uni again, but am all for using him to help the team.

I know a little hypocritical.

He's tearing **** up this year which is likely the only reason his name still exists.

****** situation for everyone, let's leave it at that.

I dont really care what anyone thinks of him, I know exactly the type of player he is and what he brings to this team, as do Dean and Darryl and most fans. I do find it interesting seeing the same posters repeating the same things ad-nauseam years later :)

Years later?

Ad-nauseam?

I don't know where you were back in 2011 and 2012, but I was one of the few posters here advocating Dean's approach to winning. I said be patient, because Kopitar, Brown, Doughty and Quick will be the core to get it done.

Fast forward to 2015 and I said it would be a big mistake to give a forward approaching 30 years of age a max contract of 8 years with a cap hit of $10M. I said the same thing about Stamkos in the NHL forum. I'm not picking on Kopitar the person, I'm saying the contract for a player of his ilk was a mistake.

Frankly, I think for some reason it insults your fandom when someone questions whether or not one of your favorite players is worth his contract. If this wasn't a salary cap league it wouldn't matter as much, but GMs can't afford mistakes like the Brown, Gaborik, and Kopitar contracts and see their team stay competitive as cup contenders.

In the salary capped NHL organizations should be one of three things:

1. A cup contender.
2. A young team working toward or being on the verge of being a cup contender.
3. Shedding older players to stockpile picks and prospects to get back to being young and on the verge of being a cup contender.

Right now the Kings are none of these three, and they won't be able to make the kind of trades necessary because the older players on the team have ridiculous cap hits no GM in the NHL would take in a trade.

Dean did a great job getting the Kings two cups. The seasons of 2011-12 through 2013-14 were amazing. Dean let his emotions and sentiment get in the way of doing his job. Exhibit A: Mike Richards.

Everyone deserves a second chance. It's not like he has had a bunch of run ins. I agree what he did cannot happen but I would welcome him back and be thrilled to bolster our blue line with s cheap very good player. You have people that have done much worse get another chance.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for 2nd chances, but he has not done, at least publicly, shown that he's changed.. He has to prove he's changed, at least for me, to even think about the 2nd chance.

I don't want to go down this rabbit hole. But how exactly can anyone prove they have changed?
I fully agree with Ziggy this ship has sailed. It's long gone and never coming back. Even as trade bait.
He'd have to sit a year in my opinion to serve the suspension the league would likely hand down which would lower value even more. If there's even any at this point.
