No one takes Brown.
Clifford is a fourth line plug.
Lewis is overpaid but has term.
I'd count my blessings if they took Lewis.
Lewis is so under appreciated around here.

Kings need to go 7-3 anyways so they can protect Lewis & Gaborik.
Not sure if I'm trolling or serious or trolling because I'm serious.
I can 100% see Lombardi making a trade so he can protect Lewis.![]()

Yup. If Muzzin or Martinez go back the other way, we just have to protect the following defensemen: Doughty, Forbort, Muzzin or Martinez. LaDue and Gravel are waiver exempt. We will have to expose McNabb anyways because Greene is injured for what appears to be the entire season, and Gilbert was just waived and likely wont get enough games in for the draft.
The seven forwards will be: Carter, Kopitar, Pearson, Toffoli, [new guy], Lewis, Dowd.
Gilbert only needs 7 more games to be eligible, I think. He played 45 the year before so he needs 25 this year to hit his 70, he's at 18. Seems like it would be better to play him for those games and try to get an asset for McNabb if he's going to be the #7.
I just think it's funny that the perception is Landeskog and Duchene are available--and just about every rumor is "x is interested in Duchene" where x = 29 NHL teams while we're the only ones linked to Landeskog![]()
Yes he is. I'm positive if the Kings protected 7 forwards, he'd be one of them.
Lewis is a glue guy blah blah blah. He is a utility plug. I appreciate him but I don't think I'd shed too many tears if he goes.
Maybe a guy like brodzinski fills in the gap and adds a little more scoring.
I don't hate Lewis but just think meh. He has been a faithful soldier tho.
Protecting Lewis is one thing, if he protects Gaborik he should be fired.
I'd move McNabb for a pick or two, maybe you can pry a 2nd or both of the ones they have from NJ. Then I'd protect Carter, Kopitar, Toffoli, Pearson, Doughty, Muzzin, Forbort, Martinez. Use the 2 seconds and Mersch to make sure Vegas takes Gaborik or Brown. Maybe it'd work maybe not.
I think Gilbert needs 7 more games plus a contract for next season.
It probably won't happen but if you had to lose one of Lewis or Dowd, who would it be?
I'd keep Dowd. Hence my value of Lewis.
I'm not DL or Sutter tho.
Well, be careful what you wish for. If he maroons Gaborik in Vegas and he hates it there and decides to retire early don't the Kings get hammered with recapture?
This is starting to set up like the D player to be exposed is McNabb. If the Kings trade Muzzin or Martinez, they can then go 7-3 about protect Kopi, carter, pearson, Toffolli, new F, Dowd, and ?? On D, forbort, drew, and mm left still. Ladue and Gravel exempt.

I doubt DL trades one of Martinez or Muzzin. The resulting blue line would be one injury away from disaster. Imagine something like Doughty, Muzzin, LaDue, Forbort, Gravel, and god knows who. Then take out DD or Muzzin. Probably not going to happen on DL's watch unless "god knows who" is a really, really good D-man.
Nope. The recapture is for contracts signed prior to the new CBA where players make something like 1M for the last couple of years to lower the AAV. Carter & Quick I believe have contracts that could have a recapture.
Other then that's there's a 35+ contract, but I don't believe his contract falls into that category either.
If Gaborik retires early there's no penalty.
Also Scuderi could be extended for league min then retire. He'd need 2 games to meet the requirement. It would cost the Kings 500K against the cap because I believe he's a 35+ contract.
Or the Kings could get a 7-8th D that meets the requirement in any trade they make.
Plenty of solutions, no need to worry.
McNabb: Looks a little rough coming back from the injury & only signed for 1 year before UFA. Don't think Vegas would target him if left exposed.
Eric Belanger couldn't take any kind of physical play. No, he was not. Better scorer sure, but Belanger was a typical tweeter.Terms like "leadership" & "glue" are overrated.
I like him just fine, but Lewis is a dime a dozen player. Eric Belanger was better.
They aren't and if they were Colorado would be entering Mike Milbury territory. Top 4 dmen will be a dime a dozen as teams exit the season and face expansion draft reality.

I don't disagree and if Sakic has any brains (which is the part I'm unsure of) he's just dangling them as a "make me an offer I can't refuse" rather than dumping them.
Guy with cup experience and can play on any line and any situation on a good deal, depending on what else is available, Lewis is a great pick. If he weren't on the Kings who are overflowing with defensive redundancies--if we were fans of a different team--people here would be much more appreciative of him.
Lewis has a better contract than I thought for some reason.
Still, appreciate what he does but wouldn't shed many tears if he left. Need players on decent contracts tho.
I wonder if King will be resigned, traded, or left to walk?
